Anyone know the Polish roster for Sundays game?

I tried going to the Polish soccer website and i had no luck in finding my way around the polish language to find a squad list. Im sure its released with the game so close.

It is more like C / D team. All players play in polish first division. I believe there is even a guy that plays for a team that just got relegated to the 2nd division. Most players play for Lech Poznan (finished 6th out of 14, 28 points less than first place Wisla Krakow. I think Lech won Polish Cup though) No players from Wisla Krakow (champion) due to their training session before 2nd round of Champions League. The only good thing about this team is that most players are young and played for U-21 together. I hope that they will try to show that they can play and deserve another look. Of course you can't really say that these are experienced international players. I hope for the close result. I guess if they can stay close with US in this game it will be a success.

If that's what the Polish camp is thinking, then I just hope they don't bunker. That would be no fun to watch.

For someone like me who was around during the Dark Ages of US Soccer(pat. pend.), that statement has staggering implications...

Not a single player on the squad from the 2002 WC squad. Guess the new coach is having tryouts. Maybe Arena will blood some youngsters himself. Too bad EJ is still injured...

why? Think he can even out the teams all by himself? :)

Ha, good one! I was thinking more along the lines that Arena might match Poland's experimental lineup. Now if you started Gaven, EJ, Mullan, and Albright over their more experienced counterparts, you may start levelling things. ;)

I, for one, am excited about this roster. No experience, but some real talent. Quite unlike what we've been used to seeing from the old farts on the Polish team over the last few years. I do think the US will win, but it shouldn't be too one-sided.

There is a guy who killed someone in a DWI accident, another guy who was supposedly the future of Polish soccer but who hasn't shown anything in his NT starts, an Armenian, and a bunch of "diamonds in the rough", who may well turn out to be just pieces of coal. This is a really weird roster, so highly experimental that it just doesn't make any sense to have them fly to the US on the Polish taxpayers dime. I understand that the US Soccer Federation and Arena are really pissed off about this, too.

I'd sure as hell be if I were the USSF. At the same time, I'm interested to see what some of these Polish youngsters play like. A question for the couple of Poles here - a kid by the name of Piotr Brozek was amazing in CM0102 for Wisla, does he exist, and is he good?

There are two of them, Piotr and Pawel, identical twins. Piotr, a left midfielder with good dribbling skils is the one who still plays (although the word "plays" may be a misnomer) for Wisla. Pawel is a streaky forward, who is on loan to some other team. They, but especially Piotr were backbones of Polands junior teams, and for about three years now have been touted as future stars ;) . Piotr Brozek probably would have been called up for the US game, but given that Wisla asked that no Wisla players are drafted for this game so that they can prepare for the Champions League campaign, he stayed at home.

BTW, many in Poland think the Brozek brothers are overrated, and others think that they will need at least two-three years to make an impact, if ever.

According to the Polish FA, Grzegorz Lato, the hero of the 74 WC is coming to Chicago with the team, evidently to sweeten the sour deal for the Polish-Americans who already bought the tickets. Not to play, however, but rather to participate in post-game libations with the supporters. Or maybe even in pre-game libations (since this is a Polish team, pre-game partying is not out of the question). :(

So is there anywhere I can see how many caps and goals each of these guys have?

In this thread, about half way down. it's in Polish, so "A" = cap, and "gol"=goal
:D

If anyone has ever seen an agreement signed between federations for friendlies, is there anyway to prevent this from happening? We've had countries send B and C squads, but has anyone ever sent a C/D squad? Trusting that is, indeed, what this one is?

Sure looks like a C/D squad to me. The team's "veteran" has a whooping 12 caps...

Maybe after viewing the clinic we ran against Mexico, they didn't want to send there first team and be embarrassed. Or maybe they watched us against Grenada and figured sending the runts would be good enough?

Sticky'd.

Too much good info, and cannot afford the risk of letting this thread slide down. :)
