Forest vs Derby this year must be one of, if not the biggest rivalry in the lower leagues this season. Two teams with so much history, living so close to each other with so much hatred leads to one hell of a derby match.

Come on you reds

We'll be watching for it.

Go Rams!

I really miss those games against St*ke, because basically they find it so hard to beat us. ;)

Looking at this thread i was going to ask what Vale vs Stoke is like. Certainly in championship manager i had the wood on the potters...33 games, 28 wins, 5 draws, 0 losses.... :D

Pity it's not like that in real life!

When AFC Wimbledon and Milton-Keynes end up in the same division, or meet each other in a cup tie, will that be one of the biggest games in terms of a rivalry? Will there be a huge build up? or will it just be any other game - especially given it might not eventuate for a while yet.

I very much doubt it would be classed as a 'huge' game although I suspect most of the country would be wanting AFC Wimbledon to win.

A derby needs a bit of history behind it though, which that match-up doesn't really have at all. More of an interesting oddity than a keenly-anticipated clash.

Is there a great book/video/dvd on derbies, rivalries or hooligans that someone can suggest? I'm in the USA, so please try and make the DVDs or Videos North American campatiable.

To be fair, if you can find a book by Bill Buford entitled Among the Thugs, you're on to a winner. Also, Scum Airways by John Sugden is a smashing read, but it deals more with ticket touts and counterfeiters than hooligans per se.

Surprised people mentioned Leicester and Coventry, and didn't mention Leicester and Derby.

As a proper Leicester fan I know that if you asked people which clubs we hated most it'd be Derby, Notts Forest and Aston Villa. A proper fan would anyway, coventry matches are just like any other game, though Millwall is quickly becoming a team we want to hammer.

Next year you might see Plymouth against Southampton. Now THAT'S rivalry.

Nottingham Forest vs Derby County
Millwall vs West Ham United
Coventry City vs Leicester City (The cities are near each other but do they hate each other?)

Southamptons rivals are Portsmouth mate! We`re only 20 miles apart. They hate us and we hate them!

Plymouth fans might dislike Southampton because they lost their manager to them but I`m sure Southampton fans don`t give a toss about Plymouth. Plus Plymouth is about 150 miles away!

That was the same with Tottenham and Southampton...They disliked us when we took hoddle and most Tottenham fans couldn't give a toss about the saints + Southampton is at least 80miles from Tottenham.

Mansfield vs Chesterfield one of the most heated derbys in the lower reaches coupled with the facts of being so close and both sets of fans have a significent number who work side by side make it very heated plus our history is relative similar
plus swansea seem to dislike us a bit weird really

holy crap thats alot of CM. jesus when was the last time you saw the sun?

QPR-Brentford the last couple of years has been pretty ok, though its more of a novelty derby than anything else (and its hardly violent, as if that should be the measure of a "good" derby) because the two teams hardly are ever in the same division (and arent this year). but they are like 4 miles apart; last year many QPR fans walked to the Brentford match in a big parade.

Can't believe the East Anglian Derby didn't get mentioned until the second page of this thread.

Here's some info on the Derby. Pride of Anglia (http://www.prideofanglia.com/history/index.htm)

Hope Town draw the budgies in the cup. :)
