I am tempted to start using iTunes to download albums, but am I correct in understanding that an album I download from Apple can be burned only 7 times? That seems a little bit BS.
Would this circumvent that: could I just make one CD and then rip that one as non-copyprotected files?
Thanks

It's my understanding, however, that you can burn individual songs an unlimited number of times. Perhaps I'm wrong on that since I haven't tried it, but that's what I understood from Apple's literature.

That's right. You can only burn a playlist in a specific order a certain number of times, but if you rearrange the order, you can burn the same songs over and over.
