Okay. I was driving home last night and heard 311 cover Love Song by the Cure. Awful, awful stuff. It made me think of what some great covers were. I'll start.

Reel Big Fish - Gigantic (Pixies) I hate this band, but the cover is great, straying far from the original but still very entertaining

There's an album that came out in about 1986 called Athens, GA Inside/Out. REM does a really good cover of the Everly Brothers' "Dream".

The worst cover is the Jessica Simpson cover of "Take My Breath Away" (Berlin) and when she ripped the music and claps from John Mellancamp's "Jack and Diane".
