there used to be until 1980, but everyone kind of agreed it was a complete waste of time.

there used to be until 1980, but everyone kind of agreed it was a complete waste of time.As the FIFA WC Finals & the Olympics are into knock-out games by this stage, I think the 3-4 playoffs should be abandoned in those tournaments also.
Give both the 3rd & 4th teams a bronze medal at the Olympics (just as in boxing & some other sports).
