After tonight, I'm glad we have 180 minutes of boring football against a team with a typical "park the bus in front of the goal" mentality ahead of us. :p
Sosa for MvB/Tymo, Pranjic for Schweini please. I'd prefer Toni to Gomez but it's unlikely that he will play three matches in a week.

I appreciate your optimism but why do you think Sosa after hardly figuring the entire season is going to suddenly have a place? Van Gaal is just too stubborn with his ideology.

Because we're hoping (foolishly) that he will learn and realize without Robben/Ribery we need Sosa on the pitch. Of course having said that and the fact most fans think that we'll probably see a midfield of Tymo/Bommel/Ottl/Demichelis. That'll show those Frankfurters to park the bus in front of net! We'll just possess the ball for 90 minutes and put everyone to sleep. Then we can say "We played well, we just didn't take our chances." This game doesn't even deserve to be televised. Not that there are any good matches Saturday, but I bet most people would be more entertained by Mainz vs Freiburg than us. Barfyern Munchen steamrolls onwards this Saturday in what surely will be a lively affair.

We have never typically played well against Frankfurt.
Is it home or away?

I like the optimism as well, and also agree that LvG is too rooted in his own tactical agenda; however, if there is one thing that can be said of LvG is he does rotate his squad.... that will be Sosa's only saving grace.
The ironic part is LvG once named Sosa as one of the 'other' creative players in the squad when discussion of a 4-3-3 was initially mentioned at season's beginning.
So what have changed I wonder????

At home. Expect a merciless Allianz crowd with a chorus of boos and whistles ready to go at the 1st sign of poor play or pointless back passing possession. I hope we start strong or it could be a long day.

At home, then away four days later in the German Cup.

Yikes... no rest for the weary!
So who IS actually eligible (healthy, not suspended, etc) for the Frankfurt match?
I think we need to return to 'combinations' of players. For instance, Olic and Mueller and Gomez seemed to connect well at the outset of the season. Olic not being out, why not try pairing Gomez and Mueller up top later in the game, as likely Toni and Klose will start.???.
Also, in midfield, when we were playing the diamond, Tymo had Schweini and Ailtontop and Sosa to work with. MVB could be utilized, but perhaps we get these guys involved again.
We can make adjustments at the break.

Is it correct that Muller and DvB will be available for these league and cup matches? Their red cards mean that they'll be unavailable for our next CL match, correct?

Per UEFA.com match report:
...but Bordeaux were made to sweat until the very end after substitute Jussiê had another spot-kick saved by Butt following a challenge on Chamakh for which Van Buyten was dismissed. Both he and Müller will miss the return.
Yup.

Here's a preview:
The Bad:
Our record in all competitions for the last 5 matches:
L-D-D-W-L
We've scored 3 goals in this stretch. Two were own goals. Our only "legitimate" goal came against Freiburg in fortuitous circumstances with Toni being saved point blank to have the ball fall nicely to Muller to ram in. This isn't a case of "We had a ton of chances but we couldn't finish them." It is a case of "We created almost no chances and did nothing with the ones we did create." Ribery has an inflammation of a tendon and is expected to be rested for another month. No doubt we can expect this injury to linger at minimum until the Winter Break with no sign of the Frenchmen or a spotty match here and there. Robben is an unknown for the match as I am writing this. We'll probably find out in a few hours if he's in or not. Like Ribery a realist has to expect that Robben has a good chance of reinjuring himself after he does return. Expect similarly splotchy play time from him in upcoming weeks. Olic injured himself as well and is out for an estimated 6 weeks.
With the lack of these players we have 0 creativity in our side. We also have no one playing well (or capable of it) on the left side of the pitch. We don't have the creativity for a 4-3-3, nor someone to play as the left winger. In a 4-4-2 there is no one available to play LM well. Schweini is excellent in a 4-3-3 as a roaming CM. At LM he is pitiful. Pranjic is just plain bad. But maybe he should get yet another chance to show he can do something besides suck. So our left side is terrible and has no decent options there. Switching Lahm to LB like against Bordeaux is not a cure all solution. It might help a bit, but we still have nothing offense coming from the left. (Granted for this match with Braafheid hurt it may be prudent to have Lahm at LB again)
Gomez has played like a stale fart lingering in a room for 2 months. No one is quite sure what to do with him. He does nothing when played as a sub and nothing when started. Toni has done well the last two matches and is unlucky to not have scored. Klose, also known as the invisible man, is such a non-presence no one even notices he is on the pitch unless they pull out a microscope and play Where's Waldo. As a 4-4-2 is most likely for Saturday it's tough to say which of the two duds to throw out there with Toni. Let's call up Sene from Bayern II!?
The Good:
We have only conceded 4 goals. One of which came in the 90th against Freiburg when up 2-0 and while a stupid, mental lapse like that is never excusable we did have the match in the bag. Our defense has been strong anchored by a revitalized Van Buyten who pairs well with Badstuder. Lahm has been equally good on the left or right. Butt has been a god send in goal. Rensing is like an old case of the clap you got rid of several years ago, never to be remembered without cringing. Demichelis and Van Bommel are back from injury. It depends what camp you fall in for Van Bommel, but I'd say it's a positive.
We're not that far back. 6th place and 6 points back of league leaders. Also, with Schalke hosting Hamburg we could make up some points on two teams ahead of us. In the CL we are in 3rd place, but we have two of the remaining 3 matches at home and we have a goal difference advantage due to our 3-0 win on the road at Haifa while Bordeaux and Juve could only manage 1-0's at home.
Frankfurt:
And that brings us to a pivotal match. The coals underneath LvG's feet have started to heat up. He's been forced into a corner needing to do well in the CL and Bundesliga right now with his two biggest stars out of action. With any new coach there is a certain breaking point where the fans leap into the abyss of hatred and only a miracle turn around can pull them back out of it. For as much as the fans think they have little power they have a lot of power. Once a coach or team loses the fans the board follows soon after and then the heads begin to roll. Bayern fans are taking little peaks at the abyss right now, but a few more lifeless draws and losses and they'll be sprinting headlong into it. The time for excuses for LvG on the new system and new coach and new league and blah blah are over. Time to put up results. The injuries are there, but too bad. Everyone has injuries. Look at Hamburg.
