That Greece is reaching the final is a backstab for the offensive and creative football. 11 Greeks standing in their own half and kicking away the ball as soon it comes there and then they get a fluke goal again. I feel very bad for the Czechs
Now I am expecting the same boring football vs Portugal in the final. Portugal will try to score while Greece is playing the ball away. Probably another 0-0 game.
I wanted an offensive final :(

Don't worry cause Portugal is not gonna be caught by surprise now and will make goals for both!

yeah, it really sucks. The Czech missed too many great chances and Nedved. I almost don't feel like watching that final. Czech-Portugal would have been a great game.

You people need to learn that defense and tactics wins in the end, not attacking.

You need to put an [R] in your thread title to warn people about game 'Results'. I don't have any emotional attachment to Euro 2004 nor any of the teams participating, but there are some people on this board who might be interested in checking up on the latest news for their particular team in whatever league who don't know that "This is not good for football..." = results to the latest Euro 2004 game.**
** explanation for all those rascals out there who say, "Why come to a soccer site if you don't want to catch a game result by accident?"

I think its a shame for Greece to be in the final. They didn't play the quality football expected of finalists. The Czechs should have put them away, not that the loss of Nedved helped in the first half.
But I still wish Portugal to lose.
Hopefully the tournament will end the same way as it began.

Nobody doesn't care about what you wanted to see. I'm seeing what I wanted to see all along.

You obviously haven't been watching the same soccer that comes on my tv, because all Portugal's games and quarter final games, and semi final games have been very face paced and have been an interesting outcome. A lot of people never thought it'd be Portugal vs Greece in the finals, but that was my prediction from day one, ever since Portugal lost to greece in the opening. I've been waiting for them to have another match, and what better way to have it then in the finals. It's going to be a wicked game prolly with tons of goals and missed chances and everything.. I'm watching it and cheering for Portugal and I know that I will not be sitting back saying "this is boring" because they are going to show everybody, including the greece, the way it should've been on day one.

Italy's approach to football works. It doesn't work when you have undisciplined players led by a poor coach who makes lousy substitutions and fails to inspire players. Don't expect to see a drastic difference now that Lippi is coaching Italy, but expect to see better results.
Anyway, my name will be changed soon. I'm waiting for a vote to decide my name in the other forum.

Coulda, woulda, shoulda ... They were not good enough to score so they are out. I understand what you guys are saying, defensive soccer is not attractive, but what else were the Greeks supposed to do? They know the Czechs will attack and if you cannot beat them in the midfield you beat them by defending and counterattacking. Not everybody can play this kind of game. You think Brazil will sit back, or even Portugal? Their strengths are in their midfield where they will win the ball and push it forward.
Only the heavy underdogs play defense (and Italy but you see, that is why they are out).
I said it before and I'll say it again -- Otto Rehhagel = Fussballgott.

i actually think this is great for football, well for international football. the english, french, german, italian and spanish FA all need to look at why their teams with arguably more talented players and definitively more money, were all soundly outplayed and embarrassed.
i'm of the semi-blasphemous opinion that there is too much football these days and the toll it takes on the worlds best players are leading to lackluster international tournaments from the big names. the euro added weight to that argument (in addition to the last world cup). $epp blatter needs to be removed and replaced by someone who will promote the game of football, over the profit.
good luck to the greeks, they've done well and deserve everything they've got to this point, arguably beating more big names than any other team in the tournament.

Oh you guys in here are pathetic talking about "I wanted Czech"... "now i'm not going to watch the final"....
why? are you afraid greece is going to beat them again???
Congratulations to Greece who has played the best defensive football and were the more aggressive team against the Czech's come the end of the game when it most counts. Greece is a solid defensive team that loves the counter attack and loves to play the ball across. It is not as straightforward as portuguese style, but it is very effective.... critical timing goals and shutout france and czech, 2 of the most offensive teams in europe.
I'm am in amazement there is not more respect for greece here... they have beaten portugal already and i can't wait to see if they can do it again.
Greece is a great team.

Exactly. As an underdog Greece did what was necessary to get the result. Congratulations to them...

I always drink an entire bottle of expensive wine when Italy loses in a tournament. It makes me very happy.

Ohh common!!
Get the fu*#K over it!! They both played great and both deserve to be in the finals!!
Now I don’t feel as bad about my team Spain because both teams in the final were from our group

ok, defensive obstinate - and in my view negative - football wins. Congrats to Greece. The way Collina handled this match was not good comin up with all these offensive calls pushin Koller over, literally torturing him, Baros couldn`t even fart without being grabbed for his bottom. Thats gay.

What's the problem? Greece are using the players at their disposal to the best possible use and it is paying dividends. It's not as if they have Pele and Maradona sitting on the bench and are just refusing to use them.
Football is about winning games, not playing the most attractive football. Greece have defended superbly and deserve everything they have got so far.
