If you honestly believe that, then you need to listen to ALOT more hip-hop. I mean, ********loads more...Got that right.

Why do so many people act like southern rap is new. I mean, have they never heard of Luke Skywalker and the 2 Live Crew, Arrested Development or the Geto Boys?

;)

Actually, I think OutKast, Mystical, Juvenile, Ludacris, and Trick Daddy are all good. Lil John is pretty mediocre and derivative.

Ok, maybe you're right. When I turn on music it is usually southern, you might find some Jay-Z in there or 3 6 Mafia. But hey, thats my opinion. I honestly think Lil Jon makes awesome friggin beats!

Stick with Jay-Z and go from there. It's best to start on the East Coast and let it trickle down. I'd recommend a couple of Wu-Tang LP's like the first one and the Genius "Liquid Swords", Method Man's "Tical" or Raekwon's "Only Built For Cuban Linx". That'll learn ya' :)

The point is, for kickin' hip-hop you must start in NYC.

One of my coworkers is from Hot-lanta, and he's a crunk boy if I ever saw one. At least he's not a poser - he was into Outkast before anybody knew who they were.

Ok, so are you saying I'm a poser? I like Crunk music, doesn't mean I HAVE TO DRESS/ACT crunk. I just got introduced to this music after my trip to the South, and since then I have been loving most tracks out there.

A little defensive there, dude? Relax. Unless maybe you are a poseur.

Got that right.

Why do so many people act like southern rap is new. I mean, have they never heard of Luke Skywalker and the 2 Live Crew... While it is geographically Southern, Miami isn't in the South.

While it is geographically Southern, Miami isn't in the South.I've always maintained that 'south' is relative. Some of Maryland's northernmost parts are more "southern" than most of, say, North Carolina.

Plus, Miami has always kinda been an entity unto itself in hip-hop due to the fact that it's a constant source of fun, throwaway booty bass singles. I still have a hard time trying not to laugh when I hear DJ Assault.

2 Live Crew are still considered "Dirty South" even if they are from Miami. :)

Those of us of a certain age, probably collecting social security, might remember the members of 2 Live Crew and record store clerks who sold "Me So Horny" were actually arrested. The whole episode was some great unintentional comedy.
