Uh. I love DC United. I really do. I'm a season ticket holder, every Sunday/Monday I'm hoarse from all the shouting (and I worry about throat cancer). I don't want to disparage DC United. I love us. We rock. But... I don't think we qualify as a "talented" team. We qualify as a "decent" team. At least, that's what the standings tell me. Hopefully soon we'll jumpt to "talented" !?

Please don't flame me!

Now Kravi, you and I have talked about this before, we're a team with a lot of individual talent that hasn't put it together yet. And I really do think that we've got some great players out there, these combos just need more playing time together, some consistancy in our starters would be a great. I think getting Adu, Gros, Eski, Dema, with the experience of Moreno, Stewart and Convey to back them up would be great for the team, and building on our talent. As a TEAM yes, we're decent, but we're quickly gaining steam. And I know this isn't the forum, but I'm predicting another 3-1 DCU win on Saturday. Let's see how that holds up.

These are some common hallmarks of someone complaining about lack of playing time:

An athlete is quoted…
…saying he deserves to start.
…saying he deserves more minutes than he’s getting.
…questioning his coach’s decisions.
…questioning the quality of play shown by those starting in front of him.

I don’t see any of these in the 2 articles linked in this thread, which are purported to have Adu complaining about his lack of playing time. What I do see is Adu expressing his frustration with sitting on the bench. Furthermore, there’s no indication as to whether he simply volunteered this information or was responding to questions (e.g. “How do you feel now that you’re coming off the bench?” or “Are you finding it difficult to score goals in MLS?”). Frankly I’m indifferent to whether DCU wins or loses and am interested in Adu only distantly and then primarily for his potential benefit to the USMNT, but Lastort, et alia are right: a little less speculative tooth gnashing and frothing at the mouth and a little more attention to the evidence at hand is in order.
