Let's get right into the swing of things again. All these international breaks are making me thirsty.

Sorry Freiburg, but i can't root for you here. Bayern has to win this.

Freiburg is not a team that sits back parking the bus, however; after Koln's frustration of Bayern there could be a temptation to do that. We've got to go all out with a very offensive line up. If we can drag them into an end to end shoot out that plays into our hands (I think Freiburg much more than Koln will go for this) and if they park the bus we'll be as ready as we can be to break it down. The defense has been stellar. They can hold their own.

This line-up assumes Bommel won't be ready to start (if he is then replace for Ottl). It is a 4-4-2 but could easily have Sosa and Schweini push up to make a 4-1-3-2 if Freiburg goes 10 behind ball:

-------------------------Butt--------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------
-------------------DvB---------Badstuber--------------
----Lahm-------------------------------------Braafheid
-------------------------Ottl--------------------------
--------Sosa--------------------------Schweini--------
-------------------------Muller------------------------
---------------Klose-------------Gomez----------------

- Ottl and Tymo are interchangable to me. I don't really care who starts, but would rather see Ottl as he is still relatively young, no international games and still has some upside in his career.

- You could swap Sosa and Muller, but I like Sosa on the wing more. He never looks as good when played at AM. He is the better crosser too. Also, Muller's place in this team is at AM when we are fully healthy so it is better to let him keep playing there to get more experienced with it.

- Toni needs playing time. I wouldn't mind him starting. Sub for the weaker of Klose/Gomez or start in place of Gomez.

- Pranjic and Altintop just don't do it for me. Altintop has been terribly ineffective at right mid. Braaf is a better LB and stronger free kick/corner taker and Schweini despite LM not being ideal for him is better all around.

Good lineup, wouldn't mind seeing it out there.

LvG: van Bommel will either start or be brought on later. MvB has to be the vocal leader as captain, that's what they missed the past weeks. They will help Gomez get through the difficult time.

It looks like LvG wants to play 4-4-2. Toni is "an option", he would probably play alongside Klose again.

Fortunately GolTV's first La Liga offering of the day isn't until 4:00 pm (Valencia V. Barcelona), so shouldn't be another ridiculous simulcast. After Bayern, we have Bundesliga Magazine, Milan Channel Weekly, and finally another game - HSV v. Neverkusen...

HSV Leverkusen is going to be a barn stormer. Can't wait for Saturday morning.

By benching him? :p
If he plays and then gets whistled from the pitch like yesterday it will only makes things worse. Bringing him for a half or 30 minutes might be the best idea at the moment.

Yes keep benching him, I'm sure his confidence will only grow.

Thanks to the amazing reporting by Hendrik (I dunno where I'd get news without him) Robben will be available. Tough to say if he's capable of close to 90 minutes or if he should be risked when Bordeaux looms. I'd still say start Sosa at RM and then bring Robben on as a sub.

Awesome news. I thought his injury might linger like Bommel's and 3-4 weeks would turn into 8-10. Glad to see him back so soon.

That is very true. Clear leadership has been lacking in the past 2-3 weeks and the only other player who can remotely fill that void has been benched. Like him or not, I welcome MvB back with open arms. He will be the player who light the proverbial fire under the rest of the players asses. That is the test of a true captain and leader, let's see what happens.

I also wouldn't mind seeing Toni back out there against Freiburg. I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm actually a bit nostalgic for the Toni-Klose partnership already. :D

Can't wait! I'm not even going to bother with the Liverpool match on at the same time on FSC.

I wouldn't risk Robben in a Bundesliga game this close to his injury, he does have a history of setbacks so my money would be on playing him a few spare minutes and than have him ready for Bordeaux.

Van Bommel? mehh i was starting to get used to having Tymos' lond hair in that DM role so Mark retturning might not be great news after all.

Gomez benched? That would send the wrong message, it is bad enough that his 30 mill transfer fee comes to hunt his morale, benching him would make matters worse.

Matters worse? How bad can it get? Scoring own goals? Should we dance around his fragile ego until he breaks out of it? In his last 5 games (Bund, CL & Nat), he's sucked beyond belief. Last time he's scored was Sept 12 againt Bor Dort.

How has many goals has Klose scored since September 12th? :D Olic? I love how many people in here kill Gomez for not scoring. Do you even realize how full of sh1t you sound like when Klose hasn't scored in 7 months and Olic has 2 goals in relativile the same amount of minutes as Mario "can't score" Gomez? Honest question, do you guys realize or not how full of sh1t you sound, and I'm not talking about you in particular but everyone that's been slating him?

If he gets benched, I don't expect him to recover until at least the second half of the season in January after the winter break. I hope he starts and hopefully gets a crap goal which will turn it around for him where he converts a bit more chances than he's done so far.

I seem to recall that nobody's scored for us in quite some time....and I mean nobody!
