View Full Version : Just one question...WHERE HAS EVERYTHING GONE???

Equipment-ites,

You may be wondering where the threads have gone in this forum. ALL 92 PAGES OF THEM. Well you know what, I’ve deleted them. Every last one of them. For the simple reasons below.

1. TOO MANY PEOPLE ABUSING THE RULES! Bumping threads daily! Selling counterfeit items! Every rule has been broken once!

2. The same names at the top of the forum! People are getting scared to post here because it’s the same people dominating this forum because they set the rules, as there hasn’t been too much moderation about (partially the modding team’s fail)

3. This forum has lost sight of what it is about.

Therefore, I have rewritten the rules of the SwapShop, and deleted every thread that violates these rules in one way or another. That’s right, that is ALL OF THEM.

As a requirement, the first time you sell an item in this forum you need to post in the RULE THREAD (link below, there’s only four threads at the moment so you don’t really need it) to say that you acknowledge and have read the rules. If you break them, you WILL be banned or infracted, take your pick which you would prefer.

This is now the bitching thread. If you have any issues, problems, or crying you would like to do, do it here and I will be happy to answer you. And no, it won’t be with a happy slap.

Yours truly,

Skizz

There shouldnt be a rule against bumping your thread. Bumpting the thread only helps keep people informed about you selling boots. Its not annoying were just trying to sell our boots. The thread can get lost in the millions of others posted and your not getting a chance to sell them. isnt that what the swap shop is all about. selling boots???

hmm. i can see gilky's point...

after a while, even if everyone abides by the rules and didnt bump their thread, there were so many new FOR SALE and WANTED threads being created that i've seen a thread be created and disappear off the first page in the matter of a day.

however, im still not for bumping threads....

Skizz, that was another reason why ive felt having the swapshop section subdivided into broad sections based on size should be created, even if it was just as little as three.... like -9, 9.5-11, 11.5+..... that way people would only be posting in one of three sections, and new postings wouldn't be overwhelming older postings off into back pages.

just an idea. i think the idea was ctoa's first, and i agree with him and his idea.

because, lets say for example you wear size 10 in some boots, 10.5 in others. you would go in one specific section, making finding boots you care about much easier, and cutting out threads you dont care about by 3.

i think there was a poll created to see what people thought about that idea, and an overwhelming majority were for it.

unless its quite hard to program with the way the boards are, i dont see why it isn't done that way. sorry, dont mean to be annoying, just expressing my opinion.

at least im happy to finally see a rule in place that states you must put the size boot in the title. its been annoying that sometimes i look at the front page and a third of the titles are extremely vague, like "Nike Vapor" and thats it.

OK HOW BOUT THIS:
DIVIDE IT INTO "WANTED" SECTION, AND "SELLING" SECTION?

im just thinking of it in terms of ebay.....this might not be the best analogy, but ebay lets you subdivide listings like this: sports > soccer > cleats > sizes 11.5-12 > brand new......the way it was before it felt like you were just going to "sports" and having to wade thru tons of stuff to find what you want, you know?

lol ok ill shut up. :D

agreed with gilky and illdthedj

the nobumping rule is stupid.
i always followed the rules and waited until it dropped off of the first page before i bumped.

divide it up!
sizes should be 8.5 and smaller
9-10.5
11+

make it a lot easier

now would be the time to do so!!

ok the bumping rule is up for some criticism, but i think a lot of people are guilty of breaking the old rule.
Ats494 correct me if im wrong but i think the rule was 2 weeks and off the 2nd page before you bump so you were still breaking them? not pointing finger just trying to remember.
Gilky yes but there were plenty of people who were bumping every couple of hours. In many of my threads the last 5 posts were bumps ill admit but they were a month apart.

The sections maybe we need branding sections. if we split it into
A) Nike
B) Adidas
C) Other
i say other as i really dont see a lot of the other brands compared to the 2 obvious ones.

The no wanted rule i agree with it was rediculous how many "I WANT SOME SUPER RARE VAPORS" threads there were and if you are like me and dont like vapors this gets annoying lol

But well done skizz for doin something needed to be done.

The rule remains, unless you can prove it needs to be revoked.

I ask you one simple question - how do you bump a listing on eBay? Or is it a matter of the lot runs its course and users have the opportunity to choose what items they want to look at?

Because that is how a selling forum should be run, no? People being allowed to browse items that are for sale without feeling pressured into selling them by people who bump their threads every day?

That idea sounds most likely to wash as the SuperMods will not allow us to have forums for every size.

right on.

yah man sorry if we're all bombarding you with our b!tching lol, thanks for the work you've done thus far.

basically any kind of simple subdivision of the swapshop board, one as simple as Wanted and For Sale, would divvy up the amount of posts you have to wade thru to get to what you want.

Im not pressuring anyone. They can easily just browse past my thread and not even look at it if they dont want to. You cant bump on ebay but as an items time runs out it disappears and makes yours the next in line until your time expires as well. Also with ebay you can pick and choose what size, color, make, time ending soonest, cheapest to most expensive. there are many different options on ebay that allow you to pass items for sale you dont want to look at.

Skizz

exactly. You can search on eBay and find the items you want. The forum has a search feature which means that users can search every thread in the SwapShop to see if anything takes their fancy.

By the way, I didn't say you were pressuring anyone. What I meant was that more than one user has said that they kept seeing the same boots bumped up to the top of the forum every time they came in here.

I'm going to suggest that to the other Mods and see if we can sort it.

There are tons of moderators - most forums have at least two or three mods, however others have just one. There are about 6 or 7 SuperModerators and then the BS admin Dark Knight and site administrator Huss.

Skizz after a few days of seeing how this is working.
I love the new idea. It is running more smoothtly.
Im glad you deleted the illegal posts.

Keep up the good work.

yah good job skizz, looking at all the "thread closed" shows just how many annoying threads would be clogging up the swapshop if nothing was done about it.

Well hopefully everyone is understanding that we are trying to make a good selling environment here. The clearer everything is, the more willing people are to buy - what's more attractive, buying from a shop where everything is sorted and stacked on shelves clearly, or a shop where there's just a pile of products in a corner with "for sale" written on it? :)

Terrible example but meh

sometimes you get a nice find for a nice price in the stores with a pile of boots :D
