i thought this quote was pretty funny...

"He had an easy rapport with the kids. After all, he is only 15 -- and shorter than some of those he was teaching on the field at Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium"

Yes, I laughed out loud on the Metro ride in this morning when I saw that. People around me thought I was a little nuts...of course, they were correct, but for the wrong reason really.

It was a good fluff piece. Great advertisement.

None of these Washington Post links have been working for me lately. It pops up with a box for the site and loads everything but the article and at the bottom says 'done'. Is anyone else having this problem? I am registered too so that should not be a factor.

Sounds like a nice program and definitely nice advertising for D.C. United.

Thanks, Eric M. Weiss, for your timing on this issue. Adu made a mistake publicly complaining about his PT. This feel good story definitely takes the edge off one's reaction to his complaining.

All BigSoccer denizens should strive to attend fund-raising events put on by DCU, the Barra and Screaming Eagles (and LN if they do one). DC Scores needs our help and the smiles of the young beneficiaries will warm your heart on a cold day, whether meteorological or metaphorical.

Thanks, I needed that (although an undesired side-effect is a temporary diminishing of my loathing, seething dislike of cheatin' bob and his minions! :)

There was also a little piece on Channel 4 news about this. Its bizzare to see Freddy saying he is doing this "for the kids" when normally kids his age are going to these things, not hosting them.

I wonder if the next lesson Adu will "teach" is "How to whine in the media for more PT?"

OK. I'll stop :D

I thought it was funny when they described the 10 year-old as the size of a dorm room. Then I read "refrigerator" after that. All of a sudden, it wasn't quite as funny, or seemingly offensive.
