Ahh the unexpected joys of cleaning your room. I found a $30 gift card for Borders. Assuming it's less than 24 months old, and thus valid, what should I get?

something for ol' ringo would be nice.
but in case you don't want to do that, my favorite author is Chrisopher Moore and his best book is Lamb. you'll laugh your a$$ off ... I've passed the book around to at least 20 people and have got nothing but rave reviews. All of his other books are great too, but this is the crown jewel.

Thanks for the suggestion guys. However my preference is to buy a CD, or maybe a book and a CD. Anyways, anyone care to recommend a CD or 12? The last one I bought was the Stone Roses debut album a few weeks back. I have finished up a Southern Rock/Jam band sort of phase and I think I'm moving towards a British Rock sort of thing.
Anyways, go nuts, guide me to the promised land of music. (And books if you are so inclined.)

Book: Frederick Exely's A Fan's Notes. The book is Exely's fictional memoirs and a great read. The book mainly takes place in the 50's & 60's as Exely slips from one tale to another showing his inability to succeed at anything despite his personal belief that he thinks he's brilliant and can't understand why the rest of the world doesn't agree with him. He uses a critical eye and sharp wit to view daily mundane life as he increasingly battles alcoholism and depression. He finally comes to the realization that he isn't destined for greatness and is as ordinary as all of rest of the working stiffs in the world that he hates. He's never going to be a star...he'll simply have to accept his place in life as a fan with everyone else. It's my favorite book.
Album: Neutral Milk Hotel's In the Aeroplane Over the Sea. It's almost a perfect album.

I am definitely going to buy and read this in the near future, probably later this summer. In fact, I was just going to go out and buy it after reading numerous reviews. However right now it is going to hit me a little to close to home, I need to get something a little more light hearted. Definitely on the list though.
As far as the other suggestions are concerned, please keep em coming. I appreciate the tastes of many of the people that frequent these forums and all of your suggestions are welcome for this upcoming purchase as well as future forays into music and literature.
Cheers!
