I would like to take my daughter to an EPL match at Old Trafford this September (we live in Dallas); perhaps even the Liverpool match on 9/18. Can anybody tell me the best way to go about getting tickets. Is the official Man Utd website a waste of time? Any scalpers that are recommended?

If any of you have been, any good or bad experiences you can pass on (for example, is the tour of Old Trafford worthwhile)?

Thank you for your input. Go Red Devils!

If your dates are flexible, you might want to contact the good folks at the Manchester United Supporters Club USA. They organize a couple of trips each season, and it all includes flight, hotel, as well as tickets to the game.

Coming from the States, I found the easist way to go about this was to

1. Become a Man Utd member
2. Apply for the tickets you want the day they become available. All tickets are a lottery (except season tickets) available to members only. If tickets are still left, then they go for sale to general public

3. Contact the ticket office via email or phone this summer and let them know you are a yank and want to attend a game. Let them know the game date you wish to attend. I found this to be a great help as ManUtd is trying to break into the north american market they tend to be a little more helpfull to us at this time.

Wait for your tickets to arrive.

Best of luck.

All of the above options are good, especially the direct phone call to the club... You should also ask them to put you in contact with a business that markets packages for particular matches that include tickets, hotel and the pre and post game receptions. Worth it if you're making a once-in-a-lifetime trip.
