Didn't this guy show up here and post something about being a newbie to MLS? I think I recognize the writing style.

Dear MLS HQ:
Sign this guy. He is a marketing genius. He's got all the answers.

Sincerely,
carlos of the ucla kind

What a pathetic piece of dribble that was herculean in its newbie-ness. I stopped reading, but did he go off on ascension/descension: could it work here? Or getting rid of the playoffs? How about the evils of Single Entity? Move San Jose or any other franchise du jour?

"I guarantee that attendance and TV ratings will triple for the first national team game that Freddy Adu suits up for."

What if you're wrong? If I throw a stick, will you go away?

In other news, 4pm on Saturday is a tough time for people to go to a soccer game, artificial turf sucks, why no single table and why put a second team in Los Angeles?

College student. Enough said.

Thanks, we need to read more about that.:)

MLS Cup Final- I just read that this morning. That's a good idea for TV I guess, but what about spreading it around a little?

Best option for all concerned, seems like.

Don't worry, they'll be spreading it around quite a bit the next several years.

That cricket league is very interesting. I actually posted something about that a couple weeks ago where I asked if the people trying to help soccer make it to the mainstream would switch to cricket after soccer makes it. This particular league looks set to have similar image/appeal concerns to those of MLS. The main investor sounds Indian, and I'll bet the league will target Indians and other groups tied to cricket nations.

ABC does nothing for cricket in this country.

Should help that cricket league, what with all of the kids growing up plying cricket in the States. I know I am stuck in the mid-west, but are there people playing cricket in the US?

I am biased to soccer, so of course I see all of the soccer goals in the corn fields around the MW, but I guess I am missing the cricket fields.

1) Cricket explained for baseball people (http://www.seattlecricket.com/history/crick.htm).

2) I'll go see a match once since we have a team here supposedly.

3) I hope they're not going to chase that ever-elusive youth cricket crowd or bring in a Pakistani bowler to pander to ethnics.

4) Surely one of their first moves will be to bring in Ian Botham and other past-their-prime foreign stars for one last payday.

/already knows way too much about cricket.

3 hour matches? That's worse than MLS introducing the Shoot-out.

I remember going to a couple of Essex matches when I was younger. The reason people would go is cuz you could buy beer at the beer tent all day (pubs back then had to close after lunch) so you'd go see the cricket and not have to worry about the pub closing for a couple of hours.

The only sports I see the kids playing around my apartment complex are soccer and cricket. No kidding.

I figure they'd try to convert some old washed up baseball players to cricket.

Can you imagine the publicity if they got Mark McGwire to bat? Or Nolan Ryan as a guest bowler?

3 hours for a game? no, no, no - that's three hours for one batter. The game itself can take two or three days to finish - especially if it is a test match!

Any one ever play Prefect's Cricket? It's loads more fun than regular cricket!
