WTF?
So I recently see/hear the Modest Mouse video for the first time and its basically the same crap Franz Ferdinand is playing. The songs are almost identical. ITs like Pearl Jam / Candlebox all over again

They've been playing "Float On" by modest mouse on Fuse pretty regularly for a month or so. At least, it always seems on when I turn it on. Odd video, but the song is decent.
I don't listen to FF really, so I can't say how equal they are, but you may be right.

"Float On" by Modest Mouse and "Take Me Out" by Franz Ferdinand sound nothing alike.

Where is Fuse from? That channel on DirecTV used to be MuchMusic which was from Toronto, is fuse the same?
I think they sound alike and got confused when I heard them on the radio when they first started playng the 2 songs.

The songs donīt sound the same but the videos are almost identical. In fact I used to confuse the bands because the guy with the moustache in Modest Mouse, looked like an imitation of Franz Ferdinand. But once I got who was who, I stoped the confusion because the song arenīt similiar.

Franz Ferdinand is a clever name.
but no i don't think the songs sound similar. I haven't seen the videos... come to think of it I haven't seen a music video in a long time.

personally I think Franz Ferdinand are much better, but this is coming from someone who had disliked Modest Mouse from thier first record on (and believe me I've been forced to listen to them)

Franz Ferdinand is a clever name.I wish more bands would name themselves after historic political leaders whose assasinations led to the start of world wars. I like the name too.

"Float On" sounds like a poor Pixies imitation to me.

When playing unannounced small club shows Franz Ferdinand changes its name to the Black Hands. That's the name of the group that assassinated him.

Franz Ferdinand is to Modest Mouse what Mozarella is to Cottage Cheese.

I would go even further - FF is to MM what filet mignon is to salisbury steak.

When did FF become rock deity? I think the album is alright, and I've been a Modest Mouse fan for years so maybe I'm biased, but Filet Mignon to Salsbury steak. Lets wait to they put out a second album.

GOD, this a relief to read. I've heard several of their albums, given them plenty of chances, and even seen them live, and none of those things have convinced me that Modest Mouse aren't terrible. Horrible band, horrible vocals.
They're just a bunch of Built to Spill ripoffs, except that Built to Spill put out two of the best albums of the 90s.

I like the Pixies, MM, and Built to Spill. They all seem pretty different from one another to me. Franz Ferdinand has some decent songs as well, but the second half of their debut I don't like as much as the first.
You big FF fans ought to buy Entertainment.

Ok, so maybe I was a bit harsh. It's just that "Float On" is really getting on my nerves.
