Who's your favourite band Gohawks? You seem to have a Select taste in music, witha few bands i've never heard of. Also do you play guitar? If so, what guitar you got?

Yes, I do play guitar. I'll post some pictures of it later once I get my digital camera working. It's a Schecter C-1 Stealth. (I've covered it with stickers, but I ordered some more that haven't come yet.
I mostly listen to punk, ska and reggae. Here's a quick list of bands I like:
Dead Kennedys
Lars Frederiksen and the Bastards
******** Sparrer
Much The Same
A Wilhelm Scream
Rise Against
Conflict
Thought Riot
Strike Anywhere
Against Me!
Authority Zero
Propagandhi
Avail
Millencolin
Anti-Flag (Older stuff)
Operation Ivy
Dropkick Murphys
Bad Religion
Pennywise
The Fight
Mustard Plug
Mighty Mighty Bosstones
RX Bandits
Bob Marley
Peter Tosh
And a bunch of local bands
There are probably more I'm not thinking of

I have heard of 2 of them, your taste does seem somewhat obscure. Ive heard of Pennywise and Bob Marley.
I take it you listen to real punk, not Blink 182 sort of punk which i don't consider to be punk anyway but nonetheless okay to listen to.
To list a few of my favourite bands they are
Oasis
Blink 182
Jimi Hendrix Experience
The Darkness
Queen
RHCP
Feeder
G'n'R
Joe Satriani....(And G3)
Santana
U2
Other none guitar bands or artists include
D12
Wu-Tang Clan
2pac
Bloods & Crips
Mobb Deep
X-Ecutioners
NWA
To name my most popular ones......also i absolutely hate Lenny Kravitz

I also play trombone and I was in a ska band called The Inexcusably Erect for a few months.
And I reckon you've probably heard of Rancid. Lars Frederiksen and the Bastards was started as a side project by one of their guitarists.

Yeah i've heard of Rancid, never heard any of their stuff though.
This is what i like about music, because no music is bad music it's just how you relate to it and how tastes differ from person to person.
I like most music really don't really stick to one genré or category whatever i like really.
I play lead guitar, not in a band thought just prefer to do my own thing, i can also play piano and violin.
Trombone sounds pretty cool though, they must cost a bomb.

I got it about 5 years ago when I was in the school band. The parents paid for it. :D
I bought my own guitar, though. It was supposed to be $500, but there was a tiny scratch on the back and they sold it to me for around $300.
I like most music, too. Anything but emo and fake bubblegum punk.

Me and my friends just got another band together and we're planning on our first practice next week.
Yeah, there doesn't seem like there's much traffic here, sadly.

Are you going to be playing Lead Guitar? i'll tell you a quite good band the Beastie Boys, i never get tired of them! lol
GoHawks4
04 Jul 2004, 08:01 PM
The Beastie Boys kick ass. Good old party hip-hop.
I'll be playing lead probably, because I'm better than my friend, and he also might be singing, but in songs that we play, lead guitar isn't like it was in the 80s.

04 Jul 2004, 08:03 PM
How do you mean?
GoHawks4
04 Jul 2004, 08:07 PM
Well in the 80s, you heard the rythm guy basically playing the same ******** over and over while the lead guitarist played solos, but we're influenced by bands that really don't have solos, and when they do, they're tasteful and brief, not tapping and all that garbage.
Plus, I really suck at soloing. Download True Believers by The Bouncing Souls and you'll see what I'm saying about solos.

I kind of know what you mean with tasteful solos Coldplay have a few they're kind of soulful in a way.
GoHawks4
04 Jul 2004, 08:11 PM
Exactly. Just little 20 second fills at most. When Dropkick Murphys do solos, they usually play along with the bagpipes.

I really like soloing though because i'm, well i wouldn't say i was a showoff but i get really carried away with the music when i'm playing, but that was when i was in a band which i'm not now.
GoHawks4
04 Jul 2004, 08:13 PM
Fair enough. I'm more into straight on riffs that knock you on your ass.
Tony Dellbird
04 Jul 2004, 08:15 PM
You ever listened to either.....Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson or Yngwie Malmsteen (sp?)
GoHawks4
04 Jul 2004, 08:20 PM
All four of them. A lot of my friends listen to it, but I can't stand it because I don't think there's any emotion in it. It's just the guitar equivalent of masturbation.

Well man, I'm out. I'm gonna go play poker with my friends.

lol a weird way of puttin it, i prefer Satch though no doubt he's good at what he does and to people that think he's better than Hendrix...cor don't get me started!
