I bought the euro 2004 package, but I just hate the fact that itv got a lot of commercial, epsecially right after the national anthems. Eventually, I always missed stuff like players taking a team photo or shaking hands. The only thing I like is the announcer in the pre-game show, the beautiful girl with a sweet voice. She should have done all the matches that itv had.

I really like the way bbc did for the show. They did a fantastic job for the pre-game, half time and post-game shows. I think they put more effort, at least I found it really funny to see Wright dress like and the way he sit. Meanwhile, Lineker always have some nice comments, something like Croatia and Switzerland played a rubbish match. Plus, I like the commentary. John's voice is just really clear though he had some pronounciations wrong. Anyway, I think BBC just make the show more entertainting. Somehow I think ITV was just too dry.

BBC is my favorite of the two. I think they're more like PBS so they have less commercials. John Motson puts the most emotion on his play-by-play, which sounds like a lot by British standards. Luckily, they've had the better matches so far, except for France v England, and they have first pick on quarterfinals, which means they'll show the match England play if they make it and the other best match. I do like Sir Bobby Robson commentating on itv, though. He has a good sense of humor.

Exactly, Robson said "oh my dear" right after France pulled back a draw

Yes, i think that was when James took Henry down. "oh dear, oh dear, oh dear". Yesterday, they were reviewing Ibrahimovic's goal against Italy: "it was like the kick of a mule!"

Motson going on about how Rooney invented the forward dribble makes me scramble to load up the revolver.

Really? I couldn't stand Bobby. It takes him like 20 minutes to finish a point. The play by play announcer doesn't know wheather to interrupt him or let him continue while play continues.

I prefer BBC. John Motson is one of the best announcers in the business.

i'm undecided... BBC have a great comfort factor, with motty & davies, who I've listened to for years, but I'd have to say my favorite announcer so far is Jon Champion (ITV)... too bad BBC didn't keep him.

A shame that Big Ron, Martin O'Neill, and Ruud Gullit aren't on the announcing teams / halftime panels this time...

This thread is a joke right?

I mean - ITV is complete crap - the Beeb wins it hands down. It is great that MOTD will be back next year during the premiership season so we don't have sit around and listen to the ITV pundits anymore

BTW - it's no shame Big Ron isn't announcing - there is a reason he got sacked - he's a racist ass

BBC is better overall as it has better production, pundits and commentators. The extra interactive feature is what makes it better though!

BBC is easily the beter of the two. No adverts, so they can properly discuss the match at half and full time. The two commentators I like most are Barry Davies and Jon Champion, Motty is past his sell by date and should retire. The summarisers have been uniformly crap, Pleat just shading it for being the most totally useless. And can;t they teach these blokes how to pronounce the names of the players properly? These are the best players in Europe and it seems that most of the commentators and summarisers have never heard of them before!

What you on about mate?! He's a total legend!

What I really haven't been impressed with on ITV is the second co-commentator. David Pleat is an absolutel joke. Did anyone watch the Italy vs Denmark game when he consistently called Christian Vieri "Viera"?!

The guy should be put in a home, he's losing his marbles. Sir Bobby's comments are a bad drawn out sometimes I agree. I say put Ally McCoist in.

I like Jim Beglin as the co-commentator.

I like bbc beter because of the half-time and pre/postgame analysis. The people they use seem very knowledgeable about players because hey used to play. itv is more about strategy which to me is boring in soccer and any sport except football. I could really care much about the commentary but when I watch Motson I keep thinking that I am playing a video game.

Definitely the BBC. I don't think anyone here in the UK prefers crappy ITV.

Thank God our main highlights programme ("Match Of The Day" will be back on the BBC from this September. ITV won the rights 2 seasons ago and since then the show has gone downhill, a piece of crap

Same here. Reminds me of the crappy FIFA game, which stinks compared to ISS and Winning Eleven.

Motson actually did the commentary for the FIFA games at least the 2001,2002 versions, I don't have the latest ones

What you on about mate?! He's a total legend!Even legends have to go some time. What really annoys me is that he won't just say what he sees. I mean, if a defender takes out a forward with a karate kick to the chest, then stamps on his head a couple of times and for good measure borrows a gun and shoots him a few times, Motson's comment would be "Well, I think he might have caught him there, we'll have to see what the referee makes of that one!"

BBC is the best by far, great commentators and pundits.

Did anyone see the time at half time during a match they where showing an incident from the match of some guy fouling someone and Ian Wright was saying the guy was assulting the other guy, and then he said "hes spooning him", silence in the studio then everyone burst out laughing and Gary says "swiftly moving on". That was hilarious, what was Wrighty on about. Also Wright keeps saying that people knew people since they where kids which is also very funny.

If it's who I think it is her dad was a fair player for Leeds United and Wales, too.

What, are you kidding? Though I don't really care. But I do believe she may have some soccer ties that related to her job. As I don't think announcers in Itv have any good pts to make like Gary in BBC, so the girl should have done all the matches, instead of that old man in forty or fifty. He's always around in somewhat more crucial matches. But I have to look at him quite closely which is quite a torture to me. Such a dying announcer in the studio.Man.

BTW, do you know the girl's name or any site for her photos?
Thanks. :D
