Alright, I am looking to purchase a "small" MP3 player for the gym...

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I am currently looking at the Rio 128mb MP3 Player (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1056281016425&skuId=5720062&type=product) as one possible solution.

Well, if you can't spring for the iPod the Rio/Creative stuff is good quality.

I just want a small MP3 with an FM tuner for the gym.

The iPod is amazing but not quite what I am looking for this time around.

I've been looking to buy one to go jogging. Right now I'm 99% convinced I'll go with the iRiver iFP-390T (256 MB).

It supports MP3, WMA en ASF, and has a voice recorder and FM tuner .

Have you given any thought to a MiniDisc player? They so much more versitle than a simple MP3 player, and MiniDiscs are way cheaper than more flash memory. I haven't heard anything recorded with the newest ATRAC, but I'm sure it's better than 128Kbs encoded Mp3.

Whatever you do, don't get the piece of junk that Nike makes. I can't even remember what it was called. First of all, the instructions were crap. It took me 6 hours of swearing at the computer to figure out how to install the drivers. Second of all, the thing was ruined during a rainstorm that started suddenly midway through my run. It was comfortable and the sound was good--I'll give it that. But the thing is supposed to have been designed for athletes, which means it shouldn't crap out during rain.

(I'm still pissed about this, mostly because there was nothing I could do. It started raining at the exact midpoint of my run.)
