In both the game against Germany and the game against the Czechs Van Nistoroy was obviously held and neither was called. Of course the first game, he scored, but still he was in a full bear hug and thrown to the ground on the shot. Todays game it was obvious to all that the defender had him in a bear hug also and again he got thrown to the ground. I can understand both players being allowed to use their hands, but this is ridiculous.
Finally, when are they going to give cards for diving, the longer the tournament goes on, the worse it seems to get.

Van Nistelrooy has a reputation for diving. Defenders are using this reputation to foul the sh!t out of him because they know the ref won't blow the whistle...

RVN was held very badly I believe in the first half. It should have been a penalty and it was quite clear. The ref was pretty poor yesterday.

Yeah, but unfortunately for the game of football, it has gotten so widely spread, that most referees won't even give a penalty for it. I remember Hierro in WC 2002, where he almost pulled an Irish player in the ground, and a penalty was awarded against Spain. He just didn't seem to understand why the referee gave the penalty. Clearly, this conduct is seen as acceptable by a lot of defenders, and unfortunately, most referees seem to agree.

perhaps so, but with some semblance of tact about it - ufjalusi just grabbed on with both hands and tried to rodeo his ass down to the ground to keep him from a clear, free shooting chance - the defender didn't just give a shirt tug and a bump and moved on... he held on for at least 3-4 seconds aka dear life - hell, ufjalusi STILL may have not let go of ruud
and all the people (not you BG) who point out "well ruud's a cheater anyway" are just liars - whatever ruud does or doesn't do at manU, he was doing everything he could to get to that ball... even getting a meek attempt off!
