Here's a crude layout on what it'll take for teams from Group B to advance to the quarterfinals. Did I miss anything ?
=====
Switzerland can advance to the quarterfinals if they beat France and Croatia beats or ties England and Switzerland has the tie-breaker on France and/or England (ie they pretty much don't have a chance)
Croatia can by beating England
France can advance if they beat Switzerland
France can advance if they tie Switzerland
France can advance if they lose to Switzerland by a small margin (tie breaker) and Croatia beats England or England beats Croatia. They could still win a tie breaker if they lose to Switzerland and England ties Croaita.
England will advance if they beat Croatia.
If England ties Croatia, they will advance if France beats or ties Switzerland.
If Engalnd ties Croatia, they may advance based on tie breaker if Switzerland beats France.

Forget about your calculations my friend, I'll tell you who will advance to quarterfinals. Croatia will cut off England's passes in the midfield and push them over the flanks and Prso will toy with England's defenders. The English showed us that they cannot pass their defender one on one and only hope they have is an early goal. 2-0 Croatia, at least.
In the second game, France will probably pull out a lucky draw, most likely in 94th minute, although I will be cheering wildly for the Swiss. Just play a fast paced game and push the french in their box. And also REMEMBER SENEGAL!!!
Enough with England and France, enough with the "favorites."
Come on Greece, come on Latvia , kick some butt Denmark.
FIGHT TO THE END.

Mentally instable Croatia fans aside, I reckon two draws or a draw and a frenh victory to see the final standings are as predicted by most at the start of the tournament. Unless Rooney pulls out sonething special I see England being extremely inhibited by the pressure they will be under from an "expectant nation" (copyright all football hacks). However, this side does not lose soft games, it just makes a real meal of them.

I hope you are joking, Prso may be able to beat some 35 year old has-been defender but Terry and Campbell are a totally different breed.
And you dont want the underdogs to go to the next round. Remember WC2002? How a lot of people rated the knockout stage as one of the weakest they can remember. Do you really want Latvia V Italy, Greece-France, or Swi-Spain? Wouldnt you rather pay $25 for Holland-Italy or France-Spain, or even England-Portugal?

I think that the better team should win and at the moment England or France do not interest me in the least. England is very boring.
Oh, and after Croatia beats England I would like to see an apology from "Fevernova99" and especially "its called football" for saying that Croatia will play a draw with england.

Yea sorry buddy, its all good having faith in your own team ( croatia ) But england are clearly the better side. More attacking threats and a much better defense.
England will win or play poorly and draw, they will not lose

England - Croatia is up in the air to me. There is no way awful switzerland, down there with Bulgaria for worst of tourney, will be the least of a threat to France. The French are taking the group because of the insane luck that they have had so far, otherwise they would deserve second at best. All their goals were half-scored by their opponents (James/Gerrard, Tudor).
The only scenario that doesn't look right to me, prk166, is that if SWI beat FRA and ENG draw, ENG would go through because they already have superior goal diff. to both FRA and SWI on a possible threesome tie-breaker.

If Switzerland beats France by three goals, they go through no matter what.

I think the good players France have will be there in the right moment. Switzerland not a very strong team, they only have a few players who could affect ur team.
I see England and France to advance. Actually it's better to be that way. the Croats are good but they just didn't show enough potential to be there, with all respect to them and thir fans. If they can play the 98' football against Engalnd through the way till they end their progress, then count me on to wish them play the final.
They didn't even progress for the Qualifications with a good performance! They came second only for a goal differnce to Belgium to sneach the ticket for playing agianst Slovenia in the qualifying play-offs.
It's only my opinion, still respect all of your's.

Surely, England draw they will go through, England will have 5, croatia 3 so they are gone
if France win they go through with 7, Swiss out with 1
If Swis and france draw, swiss out with 2
IF Swiss win, then France goes to 5, Swiss to 5 and it goes to a 3 way goal diff right?
england will stay on plus 2.
France, have to go down from +1 as they just lost so france will be on a 0 goal difference at the most,
swiss, on -3 will go up a certain amount as they just won
so it will be England and either France or the swiss that go through
am i correct?

If the England v Croatia game ends in a draw the Swiss need to win by three, if England or Croatia win, any win by Switzerland will see them through and France out.

So i ********ed up my first attempt so heres my second.
Say that Croatia England tie, England go to four, Croatia to 3 so they are out.
and Swiss Win, that means they go to 4 points ( 1 win 1 loss 1 draw ) France then go to four ( 1 win 1 loss 1 draw ) so everyone is on four??
Then it goes down to the points earned against the teams in question
England Get 3 against Swiss, 0 against France, so total = 3
Swiss get 0 against england but 3 against France so total = 3
France get 3 against 3 and 0 against Swiss so total = 3
so we are tied again. so we go to a goal differnce between the teams in question.
England 3-0 and a 1-2 = a + 2, draw will make it stay +2
France are on +1 at the mo, but lose, so it will have to go down to at least 0
Whilst the Swiss are -3 but beat France so they go up to at least -2
That means England Definitly go through if France Swiss draw and England Croatia Draw
am i correct?

Yes. A draw sends England through and Croatia out but leaves the Swiss needing to win by three or else France go through.
Here`s a possible but unlikey scenario: It`s the last minute in both games, France are losing 2-1 and England are drawing 1-1 with Croatia. France and England are on the verge of going through with four points each, the Swiss are going out with four points because of losing 3-0 to England. Then Stevie G sends a perfect through ball to Heskey who scores, putting England on 6 pts, sending France out. Switzerland go through instead because they beat France (who they share 4 pts with) 2-1.

I think England will most likely advance , I think the Croatia is not as good as they were lastime .allthough I would rather see the Croat's advance and have Beckham go home early and help Posh mow the lawnHere's a crude layout on what it'll take for teams from Group B to advance to the quarterfinals. Just a reminder, there isn't an [R] in the title thread.
DO NOT TALk ABOUT GAME SCORES TOMORROW IN THIS THREAD.
I just wanted to toss this in here since it happened in Group A today.
That said, I think England will pull off the win tomorrow they need to ensure they advance.

Heskey scoring, Gerrard passing toward the opposition goal, England scoring in the second-half let alone the last minute, Switzerland winning a game, France getting unlucky. It`s not going to happen.
Unfortunately the Euros haven`t been very kind to England over the years and a last minute Croatia goal is probably more likely.

This has been stated a few different ways, but I think this puts it a little more succinctly...
France - Advances with a win or draw. Can also advance with a loss of less than 3 goals AND an England v. Croatia draw.
England - Advances with a win or draw. Cannot advance with a loss.
Croatia - Advances with a win. Cannot advance with a draw or loss.
Switzerland - If England v. Croatia does not end in draw, then Switzerland will advance with a win (by any score). If England v. Croatia draw, then can only advance with a 3 goal win.
