Well I dont like it either, but I'm just so happy Germany didnt get the 3 points. Come on Czechs! wrap up the group, and give latvia a shot at the quarters also.

The referee didn't judge 4 (four) !!!!!!! penalties for Maris!!!!
I saw on the tv the replays, 2 in 1st half, 2 in 2nd.
Shame! The referee sealed the victory from Latvia!
Wörns committed 3 penalties, and a harsh tackle in the first quarter of an hour. And he hasn't got a card!
This EC is bad, cause the referees are bad!
For instance: against the bulgars, the croats!
I'm fed up with it!
It was a simple cheating.
Let's go Latvia! Sarauj Latvija!

I can't believe the Latvians didn't get a penalty. The first incident was 100% a penalty, the second one was slightly more questionable, but I could have seen some referees give it.
Anyway, I hope that the Czech republic doesn't qualify already tonight(=a win against Holland), so that they still have to play a real game against the Germans. That way we might get rid of them after the first round. And if we just get rid of the Italians as well (2-2 draw will do just fine, my Scandinavian friends), I'll be a very happy trooper.

The ref was a joke, what a fukcing disgrace.
How could Riley not to see the first penalty on Verparoskis? It was a obvious penalty and a red card for the German player.
What a robbery.

I've sent your post to the Administrators/owners of the site, so they can ask you if it's allright to run their site the way they want to - okay?

Come on man, isn't that a bit too reactive? The thread titles are almost the same, and the other thread was clearly active. A simple explanation would do, wouldn't it?

Perhaps you're right.
It's all to do with long threads taxing the server.
Huss posted a directive on the Moderators board about it.
It all comes down to being better to have 10 threads with only 10 posts in them being far easier on the server than one thread with 100 posts.
For any of you that aren't Premium you should appreciate this as if it's followed you will not see any "Server busy" messages.
Perhaps i was a bit off handed Jay - apologies.

We belgians? we the rest of the world? we £$&%$/&%?
:D
It's insulting that you invite the honest scandinavians to fix a match.
I am filled with indignation.

As I understand it they don't want long rambling threads which go over a certain amount of posts. That's why they're getting moderators to close threads that get to big or become out of date, and start new ones.

Hardly, Jesper Grønkjaer scored for Denmark yesterday, so Germany could actually have used a few Grønkjaer's today ...hehe
Oh, Jesper's shooting is good. Its his crossing that's the reason he's occasionally referred to as Dracula.

Comment:
Latvia played a courageous attacking football not an ugly catenaccio/counterattack as Italy, the antisoccer by definition, always do.
Nothing like watching Germany playing to reassure any nation who still have talented (or just plain decent) players.
German football is officially dead, it will soon follow belgian one in the cemetery of the once skilled nations.
The english referee was blind or it was a german pretending to be english.

Keep up man. Belgian football has been a rotting corpse since the late 80s.
And exactly when were we skilled? I must have missed something...

If you must know, the reason that I don't like the Italian team, is that they always find something or someone else to blame if games don't go their own way. It was the referee, the crowd, the other side cheating, it's never because they simply aren't good enough. There are some individuals I like on the team, like Alex Del Piero, and Buffon, but as a team, I hate the cynical type of football they play.
Don't think I'm naive, I know some of the tactics that they use are actually helpfull and effective if you want to win a major tournament. That is probably the reason why the teams I admire (Spain, Holland, Portugal) have hardly won anything between them, and teams is dislike (Italy, Germany) have won several major tournaments.

I had expected better of Germany from this match. Now if the Netherlands-Czech Republic match ends in a draw, Germany and Latvia are gone. Germany should have done much better.

Before the late 80s? I remember a belgium tough to play against.
To be tough you need a bit of skill... I didn't mean you were the top team in the world or amongst them. You were a tough side.
Now... surely Scifo was a weird kind of belgian. But... Pfaf, gerets, ceulemans... they were good players IIFC.
Belgian, I am joking anyway. Don't think I take it all too seriously. :)
Anyone has teams he likes and teams he doesn't like. Many times it doesn't matter if they are objectively better or worst than others.
Let italians free themselves from anxiety and anger by complaining about anything.

So far, the refs has been a LOT better than last WC. Even the worst cases are better than a lot of the WC02 matches, and the average is certainly better.
EDIT: Yes, the ref missed two penalties, and made a few other questionable calls, but it's still nothing compared to WC02
