Any new league would start of with 8 or 10 team. It may grow beyond that only after several years of stability.

Yes, we don't have our own domestic league, but the A-League will have to do. I see no reason to mess with what we have right now. Add a few more teams to the A-League and we would be set (for a few years at least).

Think you should tie the CFL clubs and a soccer club together play the soccer game first then the football game. Or the night before.

Field turf won't cut up and the markings are already there.

Multiple sports clubs exist already around the world ie Spainsh Clubs so why not in canada.

Squad of 24 players should be able to share the ground lower costs, what will it take addition of extra changing rooms?

In Greece, the Football teams also own Basketball and Voleyball teams.

I can't resist the temptation to conceive names for the clubs in this imagined league.

Victoria Gaels
Vancouver Whitecaps
Okanagan Rays
Calgary Saints
Edmonton Drillers
Saskatoon Colts
Winnipeg Golden Bears

Toronto Hoplites
Montreal Grenadiers
Hamilton Vulcans
Ottawa Currents
Quebec Citadelles
Halifax Sloops
St. Johns Squalls

I admit freely that some of these names may strike some of you as obsurd. But since we're just shooting the breeze here, I figure everyone could chime in with some ideas.

Genius! When you say St. John's Squall's you mean like the rain and windstorm type of squall right? If it is, thats a great name!

it'll be something even more retarded than the names u guys said.... its probably going to have the same first letter as the city... like the Hamilton Hurricane or Toronto Titans

Sheet! Toronto Titans is actually a great idea. I was trying to think of a name that recalled Greek history or mythology, in the same vane as the Argonauts. Argonauts is, in my opinion, the best name in professional sports. I came up with Toronto Hoplites because that was the name of elite Athenian cavalry and soccer nicknames should evoke speed and power. Another one I thought of is the Triremes since they were the lightning-fast ships of their day. I know they'll probably just call the new stadium Varsity Stadium but I wanted to bring it all together by calling it the Hippodrome and renaming the Blue Thunder Dance Team the Sirens. They cheer for the Argonauts, what else should they be called?

As for the Squalls, I admit that my knowledge of St. John's is limited to what I hear from Toronto Maple Leafs who cut their teeth out on the rock. The distinct impression I get is that the weather is a little tough. The area of the Grand Banks has a reputation for hard weather and a squall is chief among the fiercest storms at sea. Also, if one more God-damned team calls itself the Storm...

I know this is just following stereotypes, but would we even be able to have a number in our name? (winnipeg)

How badly do I want a Canadian League? very, very, very, very bad. :( Lol.
