Just one change... Terry in for Ledley King... so
---------------James
Neville--Campbell---Terry--Cole
Becks-Gerrard-Lampard-Scholes
-------Rooney-Owen
Scholes and Lampard wil miss the next match if they get carded... I think I would not mind one of them getting carded in this match, so basically tell Lampard to play cautious and Scholes to play his regular game :) we would not want to miss both of them for one game especially in the knockout stages, but missing them one at a time might be beneficial.

There will be a winner today. No draw. The loser will rightfully go home and the stronger team will stay to play another game. The losing team, will simply not have the caliber to play at this level and compete against the top tier teams.

Don't let the 3-0 scoreline fool you, this was a TERRIBLE performance. Some of the players seemed barely interested. They let a team with on paper much inferior players have most of the posession, and gave them too much time and space. They gave away loads of dangerous free kicks - If this had been against France Zidane would have had a hat-trick!
My Dad grew increasingly frustated, screaming every time England gave the ball away for no reason. By the end I was worried he was going to have a heart attack.
Even when the Swiss went down to ten men we couldn't control the game.
In the end a few moments of quality from our attacking players and some luck gave us the win. Against a better team, we could have lost this game before half time.

I didn't see the game, but based on the PbP, it did seem like Switzerland was in control for large portions of this game. Seems like the diamond midfield might not have worked that well.

We lost 2-1 playing superbly, I'll take a 3-0 playing a bit crap thanks.
Some are never satisfied.

Think typically England against 'lesser' teams.

What rubbish. Any team in Euro 2004 has the "caliber to play at this level and compete against the top tier teams". You do talk a load of rubbish Wildman, time to head back to your troll cave.

Three nil will do me. Don't really care as ;ong as three points, We've never played well against the smaller teams really (Iceland the exception) and avoided this banana skin.

Dyer actually got to play which is what I wanted to see. I've said that I think Dyer is a better idea for a sub than Heskey, because Dyer is a better dribbler and is much faster eventhough he isn't a striker obviously.

I thought he was good when he came on, and was unlucky to be brought down by the last man a long way from the edge of the box. I fthat foul had happened 15 yards further forward I reckon a second red would have been produced. He is one of the few players in the squad who runs at defenders, so with Rooney coming off (which I think is always a sensiblke card avoidingmeasure) he is a good replacement.

very flat!
all kidding aside it wasn't a great game, but as mentioned the 3 points and the goal diff are what counts. England can refine their game and should only get better as the tournament goes on. I think the battle against CRO will be tough, based on todays performance, but who knows which team will show on the day. If Eng can get out of these group stages then they'll do fine.

I agree completely. It's good to know that some English fans aren't fooled by the scoreline either...
Hope you guys improve against Croatia.

It wasn't a great performance, but it was a great result. The fact is though that the Swiss didn't control the game. If they had they would have at least forced 1 save from James.
Football, especially at the highest level, is all about "a few moments of quality from attacking players". Possession is nice, but it only matters if you are able to do something with it - the Swiss couldn't. England's attacking players are most effective when counter-attacking & the team's biggest strength is organized team defending. England will rarely dominate the ball or appear to be controlling the game, but that doesn't mean they are being out-played.
