Who do you like better in central defence John Terry or Ledley King?

Ledley's more athletic, but Terry is more experienced. It depends on the team. If ENG plays against more athletic and dangerous strikers, I'd like King over Terry. But if its tactical and positional play..Terry should get the chance.

I think both players are exceptional, but for some reason I like Ledley King better. Watching him in that France game last weekend, he played spectacular. John Terry is good, but for some Ledley is who I want in there. Either way, having both of them on the England squad is a definite boost.

Ledley is a better passer and more composed in possession than Terry, he also seems a more natural partner for Campbell. I imagine Sven will stick with Terry though, Terry is still quality even though he looked out of sorts for some of todays game.

I'd say the opposite. King is, like Campbell, a more spectacular player, Terry is more like RIo, controling the defense by superior positioning. I reckon you need a balanced defense with one of ech, Thus woud pick Terry over King in Ferdinand absence, by King over Terry if Campbell gets injured in World Cup qualifiers and we need a partner for Rio. (Though Woodgate and Brown may want a say in that)

John Terry is a country-mile in front of Ledley King - he will captain England before too long, mark my words.
No disrespect to Ledley, but he is not a natural centre-half, he doesn't even play there for Spurs - and he even says himself that he feels his best place is in midfield - Anthony Gardener is a better centre-half!

That's rubbish and completely the opposite from the truth. Ledley is a natural central defender and has said it repeatedly and only a muppet in David Pleat put him in midfield for part of this season, until realising at the end of the season that this was not his best position at all. I've watched them all season and Gardner is not even close to being better than Ledley King.
Gardner has talent, but Ledley is better in all areas and a complete defender, he is nothing like Campbell expect they're both black and play in defence, try watching them more closely than that please. As for Terry if he was genuinely miles better than King then he should have shown it for now, playing for a better team at club level doesn't automatically make someone a better player. King clearly has more natural talent and is picking up experience fast, which is the one area Terry has a clear advantage.

Bollox - I've been to WHL 6 times this year and I saw Spurs play at the Bridge and on TV, IMHO Gardener is the better defender and most Spurs fans prefer to see Ledley in midfield!

You idiot, John Terry is playing at a better club, because he is a better player and he will be captain of the side next year! Don't let yesterday's performance blind your already bigotted judgement, Terry didn't look fit to me, but he is a class-act in all departments and no, I am not a Chelski supporter!!!

I'm a Spurs fan and went to a fair few more than 6 of their games last season. So much for your "indepth" knowledge.
No-one in their right mind thinks Gardner is a better defender than King. Why on earth do you think King is in the squad ahead of Gardner? Why do you think most Spurs fans talk about signing another central defender to play alongside King next season with Gardner moved back to third choice? As for King playing in midfield, why then were my fellow Spurs fans and I constantly chanting to Pleat "we want Ledley at the back" at every game home and away when King was lumped in midfield? I haven't met a single sane Spurs fan who goes to games that has said that he wants to see King in midfield next season and not in defence, everybody acknowledges he did well in midfield, but he is clearly a defender and he has publically said so on many occasions. Typically 606 ignorant rubbish that you are spouting, I think you should head back to that dungheap with all the other clowns.

King acknowledges that his best hopes for a call into the Euro 2004 squad lie with his defensive capabilities.
He said: "I still consider myself as a defender and I know that, in the long term, that is where I have the best chance of playing for England.
As for Terry vs King - I would rather use the evidence of my own eyes from their performances in the 3 lions shirt. Terry can do whatever he likes for Chelsea, if the criteria for playing for England was solely club form then Vassell and Rooney would not be in the England squad and the likes of Sutton and Kevin Phillips would. Terry was below par against Switzerland and Japan, King was superb against France and Portugal. Speaks for itself.
I think Terry is still a very capable top class defender and I don't complain when he is picked for the team, but right now in terms of player selection I think Sven should be seriously considering putting King back in there for the qualities he can bring to the team alongside Campbell in terms of pace and keeping possession. And that's without going into the issue of fitness.

I think you'll find Jermaine Defoe and Ledley King are both better than "half-decent" and are both better than Robbie Keane. Not that the qualities of Spurs are at all relevant in what is a Ledley King vs John Terry discussion. Typical 606 twat can't even do a simple player comparison without resorting to offtopic bollocks.
So thank you for displaying your stupidity and lack of knowledge once again, all your half-arsed points got shot down so now you can head back to 606 with all the other drooling morons who know nothing about football and just want to foam at the mouth and talk rubbish.

Jermaine Defoe is too small and frail and he doesn't complement Robbie Keane, he needs to be playing off Kanoute. King and Gardener show promise, they are still young.
You are right though, we should not be comparing King and Terry as the gap (based on the past season) is infinite! Not to say he won't make it up one day, but today just ask yourself what they would bring on the transfer market? King maybe 2-3m whereas Terry would be nearer 10m as he is proven in the top flight - now stop trolling and get on with your homework!!!
