I wrote it down already, but this thing really pissed me off so I'm starting a thread
Please read the article "borderline cases" on www.euro2004.com (I would appreciate if someone more capable than me would insert a direct link).

I tought the stupid remarks on who is born where are a thing of past, but someone is stupid enough to write an article about it.
But this guys ignorance goes beyond all I've seen so far + he speaks of two completely different things.

First of all, all of the mentioned Croatian players are born to a Croatian father and a Croatian mother who live outside of Croatia and by their nationalities were Croats at the time of their birth just as they are now, and not German, or Australian. So, if they opted to play for ,let's say, Germany or something they could be a theme in this article, because they are not German.

So, when he speaks pf Podolsky being Polish, and opting to play for Germany how is that even similar to this?
I wont even bodder to discuss what we were over a hundred times in BS. You are whatever nationality you feel like you belong to.

It's funny that he points out that the Czech Republic is one of only 3 teams with players born only within their borders.

The other night when I was watching the Czech Republic game, I kept seeing players that I had always thought were from other countries.

They mention Nedved and I'm thinking "Wait a minute, I always thought he was dutch". Then Jan Koller pops up on the screen and again I think "Hmm, I thought he was german." Then they mention Rosicky and I was thinking of Radinski (from Canada).

There has always been a big debate here in the US about using so-called non US players like Dooley, Wagner, Regis, etc. -- guys who were born and raised in other countries to US parents. So it is interesting to see other countries talking about the same thing.
