Sorry, I put it up now because I'm going to be out of the office tomorrow morning, and we didn't want another 500 post PBP/recap thread.

At least we finally have a thread I don't have to add an [R] to retroactively. :)

England will win after the bitter disappointment of France we've got to do something about it, it should be an easy win, but the players shouldn't see it like that.

3-0 to England.

Switzerland played well, especially in their tackling back and did themselves proud, particularly in the first 20 minutes with all their set pieces.
For England the first goal was a decent move but apart from that their play kept breaking down too quickly and they kept giving the ball away. I think the confidence was a bit low and they were too conscious of the hot weather and weren't working hard enough at times.

In the second half the second goal by Rooney when the Swiss had just gone down to 10 men killed the game. Third goal was a very nice passing move but the Swiss had lost a lot of their defensive shape by then and looked exhausted. England did look a lot more confident by that point though, moving the ball around and better movement.

Michael Owen did well to set up the first goal but had a poor game, he just doesn't work hard enough for the team at times and that makes him a passenger. Vassell came on and looked so much more lively again, Sven should really think about giving him a start against the Croats, or at least bringing him on 10 minutes earlier in games.

If it weren't for Beckham's passing this would also end in a goalless draw (or worse for England). I don't remember seeing any English player passing a Swiss one. And their passing in midfield was horrible. It would seem that Croatia does have a chance if the English play like this again.
And, I wonder, why in the world did the Swiss not play like this in the first half of Croatia game? Was that not the game that they HAD to win?
I believe that some coaches did a poor job so far, especially SUI, CRO, RUS (they have a decent team and their strikers are excellent - but they played some defensive nonsense), POR (redeemed himself against Russia a little)

Crap match like all the other 5.00 kick-offs, which is down to the heat.

yakyakyakyakyakyakyakyakyakyakblahblahblahblah more anglo-phobe nonsense blahblahblahyakyakblah

3-0 It was more than Beckham, who had an average game, as you'll find out on monday.

Anglo-phobe, Prenn? I guess we were not watching the same game. Beckham's pass to Owen that resulted in the goal was the only decent play that England put together in the first half. Other than that it was all Switzerland.
And for your rude reply Croatia will not defeat you 1-0 but 2-0.

No comment about Zidane for France last sunday? Beckham hit a good pass bot other players did good things. No recognition for Rooney, Vassell et al?

LMAO

Croatia are a piss poor team of divers who couldn't create a single chance against a 10 man Switzerland. Looking forward to seeing them get a hammering from France this evening.

You know the problem for Croatia is that following England's slaughtering of Switzerland tonight Croatia have to win on monday to progress. Playing their reserves against france tonight may be a very poor decision.

Croatia have a shot in every game they play, they have talent....and France can always throw in a clunker now and then....
