RAI and Lega Calcio have found an agreement: the public tv will pay € 186 millions in three years for Campionato and Coppa Italia (highlights and live matches, respectively).
it's a € 48 millions saving from the previous deal,more or less;
also,a % of that sum are incentives for good ratings of 90° Minuto and Coppa Italia matches
there will be 6 serie A matches played on sundays afternoon (3.00 pm) and when serie A stops serie B will be scheduled on sunday afternoon as well
the other 3 serie A matches will be played on saturday afternoon, saturady night and sunday night
it has to be pointed out that this agreement does not automatically ensure that serie A and b start "regularly" on september 15th though,as the issue threatening a further delay is the paytv deals for the smaller clubs: more news on that subject tomorrow

I trust that means that, at a minimum, RAI International will carry Novantesimo Minuto. Still hoping about the games themselves....

I'd hope FSW would get in there and negotiate a nice deal for themselves on Serie A in the U.S. and Canada.

Bestianera, have you heard anything about 90m Minuto?
SoccerNet (http://www.soccernet.com/europe/news/2002/0904/20020904italytvlatest.html)Italian clubs agree TV deal
Debt-ridden Italian soccer clubs have agreed a new three-year rights deal with state broadcaster RAI, accepting a potentially big cut in rates to keep their sport on public television, RAI said on Wednesday.

It's nice to see that RAI got it, but word is that the International rights have not been agreed upon yet. Word is that it should get done soon, but nothing is concrete just yet.
Without the International rights, RAI can't show anything and that include LDS and 90 Minuto. Both of which will be seen on Italian tv.

Thanks.
Fingers crossed. :) Having that show will make or break my Serie A season.

You mean, they couldn't even show highlights? LDS (and La Giostra, for that matter) often show highlights of things RAI doesn't have the live US rights to eg Champions League games. I'm sorry, but I have little doubt RAI will at least carry some calcio this season. Otherwise, their subscriber numbers would go down by half.

Boycott Threat To Serie A Season (http://www.sportinglife.com/football/overseas/italy/news/story_get.dor?STORY_NAME=international_feed/02/09/05/SOCCER_Ita-Lega_Calcio_Corioni.html&TEAMHD=italy) - Sporting Life
Brescia president Gino Corioni on Thursday warned that the eight clubs without pay-per-view TV deals could boycott the start of the Serie A season.
However, Lega Calcio president Adriano Galliani stated earlier this week that there would be repercussions.
"On the 14th, the season begins. They already know that they will be sanctioned if they do not show up," said Galliani, also general manager at AC Milan.

btw,the new contract with RAI envisages the permit to enter locker rooms with cameras
players generally didn't take this well,obviously...
the comment of "ringhio" Gattuso:"I'm going to dismantle the camera"

Excellent news! Can you get RAI International through DirecTV or is that a DISH thing?
Right now I'll be getting the tape-delayed match and hopefully a highlights show on Sundays but would love to have RAI.
Thanks

It's still just on DISH though I think a handful of digital cable systems carry it now, too. But not DirecTV.
