Were any of you feckers lucky enough to go? I sure as hell wasn't. Would love to hear about it, though.

I went.

I know two other BigSoccer folk went too.

I had fun, but won't be returning in the future.. There's too many people. "Official" attendance was 90,000 but estimates made from helicopters put it more around 150,000 which I'd have no problem believing. It took us over eight hours to drive the last 2 or 3 miles into the festival.

It was way too hot (heat index was well into the 100s) and there's too many drugs for my tastes. You want to smoke pot, I can deal with that, but I don't want to see people snorting coke, sucking nitrous or buying heroin. It also rained the last two days and turned the place into a steamy mudhole.

The music was great, but it took way too much effort to enjoy it. I talked to many festival goers that said they wouldn't return in the future despite the amazing lineup.

Also, two people died at it this year, which I have no problem believing either given the lack of preparation by festival officials and the recklessness of many festival goers.

I only saw one guy doing coke, but my wife saw two or three. The only thing we saw in the performance/festival area was pot smoking.

All of the harder stuff was out in the camping areas.

A friend of mine got back the other day.

While she enjoyed the music, she told me of the rain which resulted in mud mixed with human and cow feces. Apparently the portapottys were a sight to behold.

She said she had a good time but only because she was in an RV.

On getting back, she got some antibiotics (she's a nurse) just in case.

Apparently the portapottys were a sight to behold. it was actually horse feces, but hey, why split hairs right :D Nothing more disturbing that opening the door on an overflowing port a potty. It was the nastiest thing I'd ever seen. People eventually resorted to doing their business outside in plain view of everyone because their was no other option at times.

She said she had a good time but only because she was in an RV. same here, well, except we had a hotel

On getting back, she got some antibiotics (she's a nurse) just in case. I seriously thought about that too. I encountered some seriously nasty stuff. It was so muddy on Sunday that people were losing their shoes. Depending on the style of shoe, it could be ripped right off your feet by the thick mud. I lost mine on sunday and had to walk around barefoot part of the time. I'm shuddering just thinking about it.
