well, sort of.

Mediacom has started offering broadband service capped at 128Kbs, which may be a little slow for my needs, but the price was right...for $50/month I get the 128kbs always on, plus extended basic cable, plus stars and encore ondemand. I had been hoping on running apache on my linux box and hosting a couple sites, but I imagine that the connection is going to much to slow for all that.

128 Kb upload is fine, but not if that's the download speed! I cant imagine that you would be able to stream with that speed.

I have Charter. Their slowest available package is 384 Kb/56 Kb (upload/download), costing $44.90:

$29.95 for 384 Kb/56 Kb service (750 Kb/128 Kb for $39.95, and 1.5 Mb/128 Kb for $49.95)
$10.00 Franchise Fee (Charter charges this if you aren't a Cable TV customer)
$4.95 Cable Modem Rental Fee. You can buy a modem on E-bay for less than $50

Well, it's not fast, but what you are getting for $50... it's not bad at all.

Depending on your upload speed, you might be able to host a low-traffic site or two.

It ain't fast, but it is cheap. I can deal with it at home, esp. since it's alwayson, but after coming home from work where we have a t3 (we're an internet based company) it's shockingly slot.

Upload is kinda slow, but I'm still going to throw up a site just to test once I get a router.

I get 2mbps fastest and 500kbps slowest download speed from RCN cable. Paying $35 a month in a packaged deal.
