I never played in the highest level so it did not appy to me. I always wondered whether the starting players have enough warmups.

They went out to do their warmups 30 minutes before kickoff. They returned to locker room and waited there for another 20 minutes or more(I have no idea what went inside, but certainly not running laps). They came out.... listen to the national athem.... do the handshakes..... take the photos.... by the start of the game, they must be cold again.

for the subs, they kept doing their warmups until they handed in their sub papers. They are ready to go. For lower level players, we just kept warming up on the field until kickoff..... we did not sit in the locker room.

We do..... our coach and captain give us motivational speeches and a brief tactics rundown, and give assignments to each individual player. Some people like Tim Howard do their mantra and other superstitious stuff :D
