I almost didn't pick Holland to advance out of the group stage, because of their history and recent flareup, and because the Czechs will be dangerous.

I do not think Italy is he best team in Europe, but I think they have a decent draw and I just think they will get through. I hope it does not happen, but I think it will. However, my luck with predicting means that my predictions will all be wrong. In a few weeks I will come back to this thread and laugh at my picks.

I am very surprised to see Italy picked by so many...I don't rate them in the top 5 sides in the competition. But what do I know?
I went with Italy largely because they're healthy and have probably the easiest group, on paper ;) . I also don't think they have as many question marks as other teams, solid at every position.
However, my thoughts will likely change by the time I go to lay down my bets tomorrow; I can easily see Portugal, France or Spain winning the whole thing as well.

I think this might happen as well. I want England to come out of there, but I think so many people are writing off Croatia and Switzerland that both England and France might overlook them. I hope that does not happen, but we will soon find out.

I'm not going to try this year. Just don't see a really great team.

France and Italy would be my favorites, with England and Portugal behind them. And it wouldn't shock anybody if Spain or Germany won. It seems most tournaments, there's at least one truly dominant team. Not this time. France is as close as you get, and I don't think they're the team they were the last cycle.

I may come back to put my foot in my mouth, but I am just not seeing with the German team. They finished second at the World Cup, but even that team was not great in my opinion. Just goes to show you that once you get to the knockout round, anything can happen. I think the German national team is on the decline.
