I do not think that's a guy, what with a name of Leslie Appel, who plays Tennis. The top stuff is for the guy, bottom stuff from the girl. Better be careful with reading things next time. Not that we won't make or anything, but not just yet.

This was a bigger clue:

What I like best about my sport: "The wide variety of outfits to choose from, and tennis is just so much fun to play."

Sound like a guy who would last long in high school? ;)

On this date.....

1989 - After blowing a 3 games to 1 lead, the San Diego Sockers win the MISL title with a 6-5 victory over the Baltimore Blast in Game 7 of the Championship Series. It is San Diego's fifth MISL title in seven years.
1990 - In their first World Cup action since 1950, the US Men lose 5-1 to Czechoslovakia in Florence, Italy. Paul Caliguiri scores the USA's only goal.
2002 - US draws 1-1 with host South Korea at the FIFA World Cup in Daegu on a goal by Clint Mathis ("That's why he's here!") and great goalkeeping by Brad Friedel.

What a feast of articles you've found for us today!

LA Times article- I don't think anyone outside L.A. County knows about this big "scandal." Municipal politicians often do that kind of stuff. It's nice to see that Carson hopes to build around the HDC.

FIFA 2004 Review: kind of late for a review, right? Also, come on, this game (when it came out around 6 months ago) was unanimously hailed as the best ever FIFA game. Many still preferred Winning Eleven, but agreed this was the best FIFA offering.

"It's one of the biggest disadvantages I've ever seen at a world event," U.S. coach April Heinrichs says. "But I understand why, and I'm supportive of that."

Good to have your excuses planned out before you crash out of a world event.

Not as big a disadvantage as having her as coach....
The Women's team pitfall has been its lack of innovation, both on and off the field....

WHEELOCK: Bringing Euro excitement across the Atlantic
http://www.foxsportsworld.com/content/view?contentId=2475236
"So, here's my solution. Fold the CONCACAF Gold Cup into the Copa America, and make it the true soccer championships of this part of the world: North, South and Central America, and the Caribbean. Create a competition that actually means something; one that isn't just a tuneup for, or a distraction from, something more important.

It would be our own hemispheric version of Euro 2004.

Keep the Copa America name, as it is the oldest international club competition dating back to 1916, and nicely incorporates both continents, but re-work the tournament completely. Bring order to the scheduling and to the size of the draw, with the European Championships as a model."

Yes, keep the dream alive! ;)

This is by far not EA's best FIFA game. It totally sucks. It has tons of bugs and the game play is gone. The graphics are better and it has more bells and whistles but actually playing the game stinks. I got it when it first came out and now I never play it.

I hear though that there's not going to be a FIFA '05. They're taking a two years to work FIFA '06.

This would actually be sweet. A month long tournament with the top 16 teams in North, Central and South Americas (and the Caribbean of course).

Top 8 CONCACAF and Top 8 CONMEBOL? Actually, I'm not sure that would work since there are only 10 total countries in CONMEBOL. And finding 8 quality teams in CONCACAF would be a chanllenge as well.

Should probably start out with the Top 4 or 5 from each Confederation.

There's a link in the Games forum to an article saying FIFA '05 will be available for "XBox Live." And come on, all the FIFA games have hilarious bugs. Sometimes you don't find them til you've played thousands of hours.
