Much to my amazement, soccer articles/notes were on 5 of the 9 pages of the Sunday Register Sport page.
The Iowa Boys High School Tournament in Muscatine (2 1/2 hours away) and the DM Menace home game with guest appearance by Freddy Adu were the highlights. There was also the MLS Standings and Saturday scores, and included in the Sports TV schedule was the USA-Japan game on ESPN2. They followed up on Tuesday with 1 1/2 pages of Iowa Girls High School Regional Finals and state final schedule.
Five Register reporters were in on the soccer coverage: Lisa Colonno, Dan McCool, Bob Gray, Todd Erzen, and MIke Malloy. Great job Register.
