Any recommendations for a pub/sports bar airing the USA-Grenada match this Sunday (6-13) near I-95 anywhere between Baltimore and Boston but preferably en route in either northern NJ, NY (but not the city), or southern CT?
Will be driving from Lancaster, PA back to Boston, MA that day and would love to stop to catch the match at a pub or sports bar. I will be leaving Lancaster in the morning and heading to the NJ Pike (or thru-way), then on to I-95 in NY and all the way thru to I-91 in CT and through Hartford. Any help would be appreciated. PM or post here.
Found a pub (The Playwright) in Stamford but don't know if the match will be aired or whether I can even make it that far before kick off. Was hoping to find something in NY en route to the Tapenzee Bridge (sp?).

Don't believe it's on the way from Lancaster, but the Dark Horse Pub on South 2nd St. in Philadelphia will probably be showing the game (altho I'd call ahead of time to make sure). Take 95 to the Delaware Ave./Columbus Blvd./Penns Landing exit, find someplace to park (the toughest part of the assignment), and walk up South Street until you hit 2nd then hang a right, it's about 2 blocks down (there's a huge Union Jack flying out front).

Check out the Palisades Mall in Nyack, rockland County just before crossing the Tappan Zee Bridge heading North. There is a huge game room/sports bar on the top floor.
Called DB something or other (D&B's???). The mall is huge. I'm sure if you pull up the website for the Palisades Mall you will be able to find it. Give them a call. Since the match is on ESPN2, and they have a dozen or so TV's I'm sure they will put it on for you. Good food too. Also, if you are traveling with someone, wife?kids?, who really couldn't care less about the game they can shop for 2 hours or play some of the games. Hope this helped. Not much up here in Northern Westchester to help you out otherwise.

It's called Dave & Busters. Also a TGIF up there. I'm sure they would put the game on for you at 1PM if you sat at the bar and ordered.
Worst case scenerio for you? Get on line and find the Irish bars in White Plains. There are quite a few. I watched a few Nat games at these when I worked there last round of qualifying. Just know they were Irish, and they will put on a "football" match any time of the day laddy. Sorry, best I could do, but there are options...may just have to dig a little.
Good luck.

Sorry, couldn't leave a US fan hanging.
White Plains Irish Pub - McFaddens
Look it up on the net, and get directions.
Good sandwiches...AND THEY WILL SHOW THE GAME!!!
Real close to I287 (which you will be on until it turns to I95N).
Carefull though, it is only about a half mile off of I287, but it is on the outskirts of the city, so parking and driving could be a little tricky.
Best of luck.

You rock TAKK! Thanks a million. Driving north I was hoping to find something before CT, as that would be too far, but after NJ, as that would be too early. The White Plains area is exactly where I was wanting to find a pub, and now I have several in the vicinity, if not in, from which to choose from.
As much as I would love to hit the Irish pub for not only the match and the atmosphere and quality beer, since I'm traveling with the girlfriend (hence reason for trip... to see show off her new boyfriend to her 'rents) I think it'll have to be Dave & Busters at the mall.
Thanks again TAKK ! ! ! :)
You too dfb547490!

No problem. Glad to help. Let's hope the rest of your ride and my day on Sunday will be good. Great shopping at that mall. She will have plenty of places to spend some cash. Let me know how it went.
PS - call ahead of time just to make sure they will show the game. Wouldn't want to screw you. Should be no problem though.

TAKK,
I recently moved to WP and was wondering what the locals do up here for EURO/other big games.
you seem to be a font of local knowledge.

Like I said previously. If you are in WP start hanging out in the Irish Pubs.
McFaddens always had matches on, of all types, or turned them on when asked. This was 4 or 5 years ago, so I would hope this hasn't changed.
There are quite of few of these pubs in the city. Go online and search and there will be several. Some of these are college bars and in the summer when school is out (Pace U) these are great places to watch.
I would call ahead of time just to check. The whole process will probably take you 15 minutes or so.
Someone will be showing the matches. Just a matter of finding out who.
Hope that helped.

Hey TAKK,
Just wanted to drop a friendly thank you once again for the recommendations. Although the atmosphere was more festival filled with sounds of (video) games for kids big and small, as opposed to the hooliganism of an Irish pub filled raving supporters, the Dave & Busters locale was perfect timing on my trip home for a stop to catch the match. The game had already started when we arrived and, much to my surprise, it was on several of the TVs, although sadly we were the first (and last) to bunk down to watch. We even got our own table-top radio transceiver (or whatever they're called) to hear the action live. The girlfriend even helped create a rowdy atmosphere of knocking over not one but two -- yes, two -- Sam Summers. Not only that, I added my own by cheering louder than the handful of Yankee fans bellied up to the bar watching their team take on San Diego. The entire bar area (10 patrons tops and another 10 workers) knew whenever the US scored (or missed a pass).
Thanks again.

Thor - glad you got to see the game and good to hear that all is well!
At the last moment (1130pm Saturday night), I wound up driving to Columbus!
See you in Foxboro. No excuses about working this time.

Nope, I'm not going to Chicago - have a good time, though. And there won't be any last minute all-night drives.

Then I'll have to save a beer for you in Foxboro. By the way, went to my girlfriend's family outing in bumble fuq PA and wound up drinking our Philly tailgate favorite: Yuengling (sp?). At that time I thought about the "other" white meat (our get togethers for the WWC).

Hope your girlfriend doesn't troll these boards - or you may not need to worry about making that trip again :D
Good job on the spelling. Yuengling is decent - try the black and tan next time.
