Yeah, its a bit boring around here, so I'll start this topic to see where we lie. I'm sure most of us are looking forward to the tournament, and several United players will be there.

Off the top of my head:
England - GNeville, PNeville, Scholes, Butt
France - Silvestre, Saha
Netherlands - RVN
Portugal - CRonaldo

So anyways, I'll be going for England not just because they have several United players, but also some guys I really like such as Lampard, Gerrard, and Bridge. I'm most familiar with their team as well, and England are sort of my second-favorite national team anyways. After that probably the Netherlands with RVN and also guys like Robben and Makaay.

I'll leave this open through the first set of group matches.

Good question. I think I will be supporting England as well. I am in the same boat as Achtung in the fact that I really like Gerrard and Lampard. In fact, I don't see how Sven could start Butt over Lampard as some say he will.
As for other teams, I would like to see the Czech Republic, Holland, Denmark and maybe, just maybe Portugal. I have never been a fan of them, but with Ronaldo running around for them, I might have to jump on the bandwagon.

I will be hoping that England does well and Scholes plays well enough to silence his critics.

Oh, and no injuries for our lads is the most important to me.

Wouldn't mind seeing Ashley Cole get in a vicious slide tackle on Henry though. :p

Have to admit I am not really cheering for anybody. I just want to see some good soccer.

I will probably go for England, but I won't be sad if France or Portugal win. Really the only team I have strong feelings about is Germany, and all those are negative ones. Hopefully the tournament is a good won and there are no injuries for Man United players.

I normally would say England, who I root for as my 2nd team, but I don't really think Man Utd got equitable treatment on the Rio issue this year. Still, more United players play for England, so I suppose that makes my decision. Still, if the United players were all splendid, but England didn't do well, I wouldn't care all that much.

I would like Portugal to do well, not only because of Ronaldo, but also because I want Portugal's "golden generation" to do well in their last chance.

Also, the Dutch... because of RVN, and because I generally like the way they play.

England, then Portugal, then Netherlands. I would just like to see England win a major competition. They have lots of good players but just haven't been able to put it together.

On a related note, it is VERY tempting to pay $180 to see all 31 Euro 2004 matches on DirecTV. The individual games are $20 each for group, and $25 for knockout. I will definitely order England-France, Spain-Portugal, another England match, and the semis and final, and a quarter if England makes it out.. That's $160 right there. For another $20, I can watch any match I want.

Yeah, I'm having to use a lot of willpower to avoid doing that... I guess I just feel like unless England gets far, I won't have a huge interest in the later matches, but then I'll probably want to watch them anyways. Ugh... I have four days to decide on that.

I plan on making a few bets, so that's largely what my cheering will be based on. I'll probably pull for Sweden since King Henrik has come back out of international retirement, and wouldn't mind seeing Ruud and the Dutch, as well CRon and the Portugese do well. I'll be across the pond (mostly in Ireland) for the final two weeks of the tournament, so who knows, I might end up heading over to Portugal for a couple days.

yes that one portugal vote was mine... hehe. Portugal first then England. I HATE FRANCE. I've hated the french people ever since I got a chance to visit france when I lived in portugal for 5 years. I hope france doesnt make it through the group stage... realistically though they'll probably take the cup if Henry & Co. is on their best like he was in the EPL this year. bah sayng that just left me feeling like I wanna vomit. GO Cristiano & Co.!!!

England winning would probably top United winning the Treble for me even if they didn't do it in such dramatic style.

I've generally had a soft spot for England, since that's really the only league that I follow closely, week in and week out.

Also, if they get through to the knockout stage, I'll be at their quarterfinal game in Lisbon, whether they finish first or 2nd.

It's hard to follow an EPL side and not also indirectly follow the English national team. After a while, you're just interested in what they are doing, then you eventually start routing for them because they have club players that you follow.

The existence of the Euro every four years really means there is no break in national side football in Europe, and it's great for the fans.

I'll be going for England, since ever since I started watching football, English football is what I watch and like the most.

I would love to see netherlands put together a complete tournament and play to their potential. Sit Kluivert have RVN up top with van der vaart feeding him. Robben , Van de Mayde, Sneidjer all aim to impress in first tournament. I want to see Davids dominate midfield as well. Holland could have a real shot if they stop squabbling and put togehter a decent tournament.

As a United fan i feel like I should be supporting the English squad. But I've been rooting for the French ever since the first WC i saw, so I'm sticking with them. However, it'd be great if both teams reach the finals
