Canada 3, San Jose 1. Game called after 74 minutes due to power failure at Spartan Stadium

Goals by Radzinski, Pesch & and own-goal to give Canada a 3-0 lead before Ching pulled one back for Canada on a penalty kick after an apparent hand-ball by McKenna.

This was Canada's last official match before the Belize series, beginning next weekend.

San Jose website shows 3-2 as the final score. I thought that they would
draw more than 7013.

Just got back from the game. Canada looked good out there, very organized. San Jose, not so good.

First goal was at the far side of the stadium, I didn't catch the details.

Second goal was the own goal by Waibel, but it wasn't his fault -- San Jose's rookie defender Cochrane got burned by one of the Canadians, I mean burned like a witch at the stake. Sorry, I didn't catch which Canuck got him. But he was left standing at the top of the box while the Canadian went by him and passed across the goal to another Canadian (sorry, not paying attention, I just know DeRosario was not involved) for an easy tap-in, but Waibel got in the way and tapped it in himself. It was a sure goal as soon as Cochrane got burned like London in 1666.

Third Canada goal was a mixup in the box, San Jose backup goalie Conway stretched across the goal to the right but the ball was deflected to the left by Pesch.

The San Jose penalty was on the far side of the field, I didn't see the details but it felt like a makeup call as Canada was pretty much kicking our asses out there.

The power failure was... well, here's hoping for a new stadium someday.

Y'all looked good out there, good luck against Belize. I don't think you'll have any trouble but Yallop is not the kind of guy to take this lightly.

The San Jose website has a double-entry on the Ching PK, perhaps resulting from that power failure, but all reports indicate 3-1 final.

The power went out right after Ching hit the penalty. They were going to stop the match, but the crowd started chanting "Play Play Play...." So they played for a little bit. Donovan scored RIGHT as the ref called the game due to darkness. That's why a lot of the box scores originally said 3-2. It really should have been 3-2. Walker was just offside on a goal in the early part of the game as well. Hope that clears it up... :)

No that wasn't it. The website match tracker indicated that Ching scored on two penalty kicks within 3 minutes. It was a double entry. The San Jose fans in the San Jose forum have indicated that Donovan's goal was correctly disallowed for offside with the flag up well before he even received the ball - though I suspect that with the stadium shrouded in darkness that may have been difficult to see for some people.

Didn't look offside to me. Walker's goal was the close offside. The goal was disallowed because the game was called as he scored it. Regardless of why the game was originally listed as 3-2... They should have just kept playing..
