"The shocking extent of West Ham United's financial crisis during the Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson era has been laid bare in the clubs's accounts, which have been obtained by the Guardian. The documents reveal a business strategy that, in the opinion of the club's finance director, Nick Igoe, was "fundamentally flawed"..."

in light of this, the fact that we kept hold of upson, green, parker and even cole is impressive. west ham are really one of the most hard hit clubs by our financial situation that i can think of. clearly the former (eggy) heads didn't have any proper experience and this hurt us.

maybe they knew such a crisis was coming and maybe not...but our perils now are truely a modern tale. the pressure now is on the squad, bare bones as it is, to not only produce, but do well enough to possibly withstand having points docked.

it's a shame because the club is really on the precipice of doing something great. we have good young players and a wonderful manager; or, someone with more experience tell me: is this the perpetual state of west ham?

More or less what we were expecting, after the Duxbury interview on KUMB.
A few daft comments by the Journo though.
We were never in danger of going into administration and no bank ever threatened to call in the loans.

2009 are much better and the club is now running in profit.

This is only a fraction of the debts carried by Chelsea and Liverpool.

Every now and then we are given a nugget of hope that our poor fortune could be about to change. Like this article:

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/saudi-to-bid-for-west-ham-1782458.html

Nothing anywhere near solid is mentioned, but there is a glimmer there.

I'm not sure I want us to be the disposable plaything of an uninterested individual from the other side of the planet, but it sounds better than where we are now.

This seems to be the destiny of all EPL clubs nowadays. So I suppose it's just a matter of time.
