According to a report in El Tiempo, a Honduran newspaper, Bora has decided to quit after the matches against Netherlands Antilles. It looks like just a rumor, but it rings true, considering the heat he's been under.

Look in the right-hand column under "Deportes." (I assume the link will only be there today, June 4.)

Weird, the Honduras job seemed like a perfect fit for Bora, but alas it really hasn't worked out like everyone thought it would. Maybe there are too many political/personality problems in the FA and the team, or maybe he's just lost his touch?

Either way, I'm sure we'll see him pop up somewhere before Germany '06.

He's coached four countries in the World Cup....by sucking during qualifying rounds??

I see.

Other than the USA, did those teams not have to qualify?

:p

Mexico 86 didn't have to qualify, and he didn't coach Costa Rica 90 or Nigeria 98 during WCQ (although he did coach Mexico during 98 WCQ). China was the first team he coached through qualifying and the cup.

LOL! Sure, I'll read to you. Your above post indicates the only team he coached in qualifying, QUALIFIED. However, Bora -- in the words of your previous post -- "sucks in the qualifying rounds...."

I see now. :D

Honduras need a coach who will let them play a little more--they were deadly when lighthearted but wilted under pressure last time. Playing for Bora is like being under constant, droning pressure to defend and that's not Honduras' game. It was a bad fit. He'd have done much better with Guatemala or El Salvador, teams of grit and determination.

Ditto. When I heard Bora was heading to Honduras I figured it would be either an excellent fit or a horrible fit. Up to now, it's been the latter.

Excellent Fit - A team that can outscore you now has the discipline to defend. They can now win 1-0, 2-1 games against better opponents.

Horrible Fit - Honduras outscores you, period. Try to make them defend and they will neither defend well nor play well offensively. They now lose to lesser opponents.

Is it possible that Honduras had one nice little streak in 2001 but has been largely mediocre since then? It couldn't be the players, could it? There seems to be an expectation placed on this team that never comes to fruition.

I think that some of you guys are judging Honduras too much by their recent game against the US. Don't forget that they were missing their best forward, best midfielder and their three best defenders. They will be a different team in the qualifiers.

are you referring to Suazo as their best forward? he has done ******** all interntionally. 15 goals in a 24 team serie B is nothing special man.

Make that 19 goals, none being a penalty.

It may be Serie B, but it is nothing to sneeze at.

He has yet to blossom at the international level, but he is still their best forward. He will be a starter for Honduras.

agreed...pound for pound suazo is the best forward honduras has..he will start to produce this qualifiers...he hasnt blossomed cuz he hasnt played with the nats in a while.

Once they give him continuity he will gain confidence and will start scoring international goals, are you telling me you can score 19 goals in the serie B??? you're a freakin idiot
