I was wondering if many of u had put elastic straps in some of your boots (obviously boots that don't have them in them e.g World Cups). I would like to add an elastic strap to the tongues of my Umbro Xai 2 like Defoe used to have but i am not sure how to go about doing it. For a start where can i get those elastic straps? Once i got them how do i add them, please help as this would be my first home-done modification. :)

You can just buy long pieces of thin elastic(then cut it down). I have the Attivas and I did the same thing. The Attivas have two layers on the tongue. So I cut the thread between the two layers, just where the elastic would go. Then I put the elastic on each then put a dab of some really strong clothes glue.

Adidas Fan, what cleats do you want to put elastic in. It will be easier to tell you if I know what the tongue is like.

And the point in that is? I know Figo does it, but that's because he has them specially amde so that the threading in the tongue is designed differently from normal, specifically to fit his needs.the tongue on regular t90's is threaded up so you cant really get much movement from the tongue, if you dont like the fact that the tonue sticks out, then just cut it off, thats what i done with both my pairs of azt90II. I remebrr back when Beckham used to train in Copa Mundials, and he used to out elastic around his tongues. They look well swish with the tongue down etc.

I did the same as WV Bobcat,

I got the tongue of my boot, split a part of it and slipped the elastic strap in and the I put some clothes glue which sticks really well. Now I have azt's where the tongue doesn't stick out.

Use one of these.
http://www.soccer.com/Images/Catalog/ProductImages/images01/image_exists.php?sku=204272

a) You can cut it into a smaller strip.
b) Put a couple of slots running across the front and guide the tounge through.
c) Put it on with the tounge on top and sew the tounge on top of it. Cut away excess.
d) Hide your make-up if you are a Nancy boy.

Possibilities are endless.

I use a ligament from a cadaver to tie mine down.

Those things look awful! They cover most of the boot.

LOL I think so too, I put straps on mine just like the adidas boots, I have azt's I in the white/black scheme, so I got a white thin elastic strap in the tongue to hold them down, just like the one beckham237 posted.

That's what I think Adidas Fan was asking about, not those nasty big straps
