Went to the game last night..................
It looks like Lee held his foot and we would have had the third out. That doesn't matter though......... when you have bases loaded with no outs we have to capitalize.
I am excited to have Prior back this Friday. :)

Sammy should return soon too. Wood being out is tough as well.
Prior is impressive, it will be good to see him pitch again.

He did great. Too bad the bullpen sucks.
And I've had it with Derrek Lee as well. I'm sick of hearing that he's going to come around, going to come around, soon as it gets warm, you just wait. He's useless.
These guys are dead to me until they make changes to get someone in the bullpen who can close out a game. I refuse to believe Eric Gagne is the last survivor of a dead race from another planet.

Yup Kennto....... that bullpen sucks. Latroye needs to be our closer and it looks as if we need a setup man.
Is Lee coming around you think?

Don't know. Don't care. I haven't paid attention since Friday and won't until Farnsworth is traded to Japan. Someone told me Borowsky is on the DL, which is good. As long as they don't call up Andy Pratt to replace him.

Ok Kenn, you've managed to wake Derrek up, now start railing on Farnsworth again and get him going!

Farnsworth sucks. He's the absolute worst. :)
Seriously, since June 4, I have not watched a game, listened to a game, read about a game, peeked on the internet about a game or about the team, or worn anything Cubs-related. I'm that p!ssed. I'm sure I'll get over it eventually, but giving them the silent treatment has been kind of refreshing, actually. I have no idea how they've been doing lately.

Well, it's June 15, Kerry Wood and Mark Prior have combined for 4 wins, and Roger Clemens has 9, but we're ahead of Houston in the standings and only two games out of first.
The NL Central has really nosedived since everyone started calling it the best division in basebal.

that's a shame............ the series against the angels and the game last night against houston should not have been missed.

Oh, well. There will always be another game, another series, and another season. And I've been at this long enough to know how the movie ends.
I'm not swearing off them - once a team is yours, you're stuck with them. We just need a little time apart, because the same b.s. year after year after year is tedious.

NLC nosedived???
speaking most of the first couple of months is mostly innerdivision play how has it nosedived?
Look at the A's... they snuck away with one win in six games against the Cubs and Cards.Even with injuries the A's are one of the best teams in the American league. As of now you have four solid teams in the NLC who probably would contend in any division in baseball.
Nosedive?? heck no, they just have been beating each other up.

Please note I posted this the afternoon the Oakland/St. Louis Series started.
You're absolutely right in that they've been beating each other up. I looked at the NL central's record outside of the division from June 1-15, it is 14-21. Cincinnati & Pittsburgh combined are 10 under, while St. Louis, Houston, & Chicago all went 2-1 in the same strect.
I guess instead of nosediving, what reall happened was Pittsburgh fell back, and Cincinnati came back to the pack.

I hear ya,
I guess as lifelong Cubs,Bears and Illini fan I get a bit defensive when people say The NLC,NFC-C err North, and Big ten are crap.
its not that their crap its just that they beat each other up so badly that when they play outside their division their weak ;)

When is Wood coming off the DL?
Tough to say. He threw on the side yesterday, and they plan to have him do that a couple of more times before moving on to simulated games.
That tells me at least two weeks, probably more.
Our minor league teams are raking in the $$$ while guys like Prior and Sosa have minor league stints.

The A's did go 1-5 in STL and Wrigley, but swept PIT and CIN at home, so finished 7-5 against the NLC and are 19-5 all time against the NLC in regular season interleague play. They were also missing two roster players (Mark McLemore and Arthur Rhodes, who were both gone for family emergencies) for half the swing through STL and CHI. But I'll bet the A's wished Artie had stayed away given his performance at Wrigley yesterday...
I agree that the NLC is a really competitive division this season. Whoever gets through will be a serious threat in the postseason.

Keep it up! His slider was just awesome last night. It was not hittable.
Would anyone else like to see Walker back in the lineup or is it just me?

Talk about depth this year...
The todd squad really have came through. Both proved they could play day in and day out.Give Grudzielanek some time though, rememebr his hitting was phenom before the injury.
Now lets hope Rusch continues his great season and gets us back in 1st in tonight!
