Looks like Eriksson may start with Lampard:

Likely team.

James, Neville, Cole, Terry, Campbell, Butt or Lampard, Gerrard, Beckham, Scholes, Rooney, Owen.

I`ve got a feeling he might start with Butt, bring on Lamps (and nobody else) at half time for 30 mins, then make about 4 or 5 changes for the last 15 mins. We need a settled team to play for about 75 mins, 45 isn`t enough.

With Butt or Lamps the only real choice left to be made, don't see why he doesn't give one a full game vs Japan and one a full game vs Iceland. Only problem with this is the difference of quality between the two sides. As long as the Back four get a good run as a unit I'm not that bothered really, the team has otherwise been settled for a while now.

As long as he doesn't make 78 substitutions England should win this comfortably, by a couple of goals.

I'd prefer it the other way round, to be honest. I think we need to give a goal threat against the French and I don't think that's going to happen with Butt. I've just seen the figures on Sky and, apparently, he's only started in 12 games in the prem. this year. That's simply not enough. Certainly not when compared with the 38, (i.e. all of them), of Lampard.

Different player - different job, I know... but even so.

I think we'll lose 2-0, and for all the American sh1t heads like Serie Zed and SkipperSnack to start touching themselves with excitement in World Rivalries afterwards... To be honest I couldn't give a sh1te about the result, I just don't want our players to get injured..

Gerrard with a long shot, Narazaki can't hold on, and Owen taps in the rebound.

I know some players are right footed or left footed but shouldn't more of these players be able to use both feet? It's freaking annoying...

James with a good save...

For 100,000 quid a week I'd hope they could learn. It is truly pathetic that professional footballers are not all completely two footed, or at least resonably so. All it would take is the ability to consistently pop the ball into the six yard box on the run. Should be able to manage this from an hour a day's extra practice. For the salary they get! And why aren't they learning this as teenagers, in the same well it was driven into me then? As I said, pathetic.

They are not making Zidane's prediction look as arrogant as it first sounded, are they?

Hell, there are some pub teams that would have a chance against this lot.

Beckham is useless without a target forward to cross to.

Gerrard, Scholes, Lampard - all unable to set up Owen or Rooney

Even if they nick a late goal, they have problems going into Euro 2004.

Maybe it's on purpose, you know, to reduce the English Press's expectations... [/sarcasm]

hahahahaha what kind of ******** are you smoking today? with full strength at home, the best your weak team could do against the might of japan is to get a lucky tie and you earned it undeservingly tonight so just be happy with it and good luck on euro 04 or whatever a local village tourney you have in europe.

Continues the tradition of the home team sucking at the MASSIVE CITY OF MANCHESTER STADIUM. ;)
