Beck's laces

Becks seems to always lace his preds up to only about the 3rd or second last lace eyes and pull the tongue over his laces alot longer than what they meant to be. Does anyone else out there do it, and does this have any signifacnt effects? like better ankle movement range or something? Or is it just another one of his fashion statements?(so that he has more room for fancy stuff sown onto his tongue maybe).

Its probably more of a fashion thing. But to be honest when i wear mania's i never lace through my top hole. It does let the tongue sit more comfy on your foot. Guess it just depends on how tight you like your boot and if you want your tongue to be long over the top of the boot.

just on the topic, do any of you cut your laces with adidas boots? i find the original laces way too long and had to cut them (took quite a bit off).

Yes i cut my laces, i find them way to long and i dont like wraping them under my boot. As for not putting my laces through the top two wholes i find it makes the boot feel lighter on my feet and my ankles feel more free. I dont know if this happens to anyone else, maybe its just me. plus if ur in a rush, you can just slip your boots on.

I read this on a previous thread, and i do it myself, but if u cut the laces get a lighter and burn the ends a little bit so that it seals over and doesn't fray. Careful u don't let it catch fire, and sometimes the stuff inside the laces melts a bit don't get it on u it burns like hell trust me i know :o

Oh sozz, i'm noobs here. think there was one before about the laces being too long but i didn't see one about not lacing through all the holes or about the extended tongue.

i burned the ends of my shoelaces with my new boots and i find it is best if you fold it together as you burn it and step on it until it cools. so the ends is alittle narrower than the laces

I'd agree as well. People still do it with the classic adidas boots - the copas, mundial teams, and world cups. I do it with my copas, sometimes 2 or 3 eyelets down, depending on my mood. I do admit, though, I can get a better fit with the tongue folded down farther. I have narrow feet and a lower arch, and I can fit a 1/2 size smaller and get a good snug fit folding the tongue down. Otherwise, the 1/2 size larger is just too wide.

i tried it, and it does feel alot easier on the upper foot, but it just feels too loose for me. though it does put less tension on the elastic bands if you're hooking them behind the first set of studs.
