View Full Version : Celtic player from late 80s
Do any of you diehard Celtic fans remember Sean McBride(the guy in my avatar)? He played from 1988-1991. He never played in a 1st team game, though he did make the bench 3x. Also played for Scotland youth teams.

Ahhhhhh 88-91, the start of the big slide, how could we remember Sean Mc Bride when he was playing (well on the bench 3 times) alongside such luminaries as Wayne Biggins and Andy Walker.

Ive blocked out everything from the day your namesake left until Wim Jansen was appointed except for the odd cracking win and the scottish cup.

Actually no I take that back, the Burns era in the mid 90's was fantastic from a football perspective, the stuff we played with the players we had, VanHooijdonk,DiCanio,Cadete and the irrepressable Peter Grant.
The only problem was we didnt win anything cos the huns always managed to beat us the jammy gits.

So do you have to be jammy to win 9 in a row, well against Burns, it must have been 3 or 4.

and in that 3 or 4 we played you off the park every time, tore you apart without it ever going in and then boof, sally or the mullet or the dane got some scrappy effort in the 88th minute or such.

LOL I seem to remember commentaries like this
" Celtic are controlling play right now ...
McStay with the shot!!!!
Magnificent save by Goram
Goram throws to Gough
Gough pass to Albertz
Albertz,,, long ball to Laudrop
Laudrop shoots... GOAL
What a goal against the run of Play"

Jammy
I know, George Albertz freekicks, Neil Mcann hatrick, Ally McCoist, Gazza, Laudrup, Hatley, Jonas Thern, Durie, McCall, Durrant, Ian Ferguson, always seemed to score jammy goals eh. Naa, don't think so. Winning 3-1, 2-0, canny be jammy. There's no such thing as a jammy goal apart from slipping and the ball hitting off your head or something. Scoring in the 88th minute isn't jammy, just connsintency(spelling?) through out a match. Isn't the 88th minute part of the game?
Can't you remember Laudrop's dazzling runs, Albertz's scoarching shots, Gazza's trickery and McCoist's finishing?
I suppose getting thumped for 9 seasons in a row, you can't think of an excuse, can you?

I can certainly remember Laudrup's diving, Albertz's dresses, Gazza's flutes and Sally McMoist's wanderings away from home... ;)
Now those were great days...

Back in the gutter where yous belong ;)
seriously though, the interest alone on an 80 million outstanding debt is more than you can count on your fingers and toes my man, not to mention if someone starts a serious investigation about the way rangers and murray international group or whatever its called are both financed.

hul you ya frickin jungle jim shut up. you are talking so much crap. first you say we are jammy for winning the league 9 TIMES in a row. you cant be jammy for those amount of year that is shear greatness. only an idiot would hit out with something as stupid as that. maybe you are just jelous cause we can remember the players from our 9 in a row domination and most of yours are probably dead haha. try find a celtic 9 in a row video, u'd b lucky, only black n white photo prints.
as for being back in the gutter. i dont think so. we have never been in a gutter. the worst place we could go to is murry park which is a palace. i was going to ask if u have been there, but i forgot they dont let you lot near it.
yous are more familiar with the gutter as you train in 1 every day. probs the reason you cant attract any more good players. they dont want 2 train behind a corner shop.
we have had one bad season but i can tell you 1 thing you wont hear us going about saying yous were jammy for winning the double cause a team who wins any cup deserved it over all. just like last year we deserved the treble n yous deserved nothing cause we were better than yous over all, and porto we better than yous. but we still all we heard was yous were jammy, yous didnt deserve it we were better, we got to the uefa cup final. who cares in the end cause no one remembers second place.
good luck with out king larsson. you will need it cause you wont be bringing in anyone half decent cause we all know celtic are tight with the money haha. plus im sure big boumsong will have who ever it is.

I said you were jammy in that you managed to continually pump us during the burns era despite us playing the better football and making the better chances, thats jammy in my book.
Seriously man i know primary school educations are getting worse and worse these days but can you no lift your wee white/burberry baseball cap high enough off yer sloping forehead to comprehend the meaning in these posts?
80 million in debt and no money for players says you are in big trouble, especially with the lack of funding in the scottish game at the minute, but big red seems to have a knack for decent bosmans, prso and boumsong could be your saviours yet, or they could be another emerson, capucho, vanioli,de boer......still alex rae, thats pure quality there, bet europe is crapping their collective pants now, and if he wins nothing this year or looks like winning nothing with this patchwork squad of raggy dolls then he will get the boot because your supporters dont seem to realise just how deep the ********e you are currently in is!
80 million (at least! due to rangers creative bookkeeping its likely more) is not manageable debt, even for a club your size.

It's worth noting that the 80 million pound debt wasn't racked up to achieve domestic success, but to achieve success on the European front.
Now, let me see...
... can anyone help here, I'm struggling to find anything! :)
