Tickets to the home depot center are WAY (like 50%) higher than anywhere else in MLS...

Won't Chivas prices and LA prices have to be essentially the same? Or will it be like Lakers -- Clippers at the Staples Center?... and if so.. . which one is the Lakers?!!

I think your title question is legit yet your content is bland. Anyone care to have a say on this question?

I think Chivas at one point said that they were concerned w/ the high prices at The Cathedral and would low-ball the Galaxy.

Expect the Galaxy to alter their tix structure once again. I wouldn't be surprised if the different prices this year were done in an effort to appeal more to the working class that Chivas will attempt to draw.

Just my 2 pesos...

Lower prices would attract more people for either team. Woudln't that be nice.

I'm sure it will be much cheaper than Galaxy, but I'm sure also that Vergara is in for less than AEG (i.e. Vergara's initial cash investment is lower than AEG's). Thus, he can charge less and get a better return.

Also, I think the price point thing has been something AEG has been missing. There is a clear market for lower tickets as evidenced by the fact that the upper deck bleachers (far inferior seats) always have a surprising good turnout; as do the goal line seats.

My guess is Vergara will be smart enough to price tickets at a level where they will have constant sell outs (no pun intended), thereby creating a buzz about this New Thing that is drawing so much interest from "the Latinos" (I love when people trying to be PC say that).

Unfortunately, the Galaxy will look comparatively weak and undersupported when this happens. Then the articles about how the new Chivas is more popular than the Galaxy will come out.

As uclacarlos said the Galaxy will make more changes to the ticket structure, but they will be reactionary again as they were toward the Chivas youth team tryouts. The Galaxy are just now 8 years into their existance holding these, only after Vegara had 10K show up to his. Also, the Galaxy made their first visit to ELACC last month in a late effort to embrace the latino community.

Sorry for the rambling but hopefully I'm somewhat on topic.

Im pretty sure they will lower the prices too. They are too high, at least for me. I stopped attending as many games when the Galaxy moved to the HDC because of the prices.

I think the Galaxy started to preper for Chivas USA a while back. Hiring Mexican Martin Vasquez as asistent coach was one. I also think I read that La Opinion is now the official Galaxy newspaper.

IMHO you hit the nail on the head galaxy1320!

Ticket prices will make or break the success of Chivas Los Angeles.

Lower prices will allow working class Latino families the opportunity to attend live futbol matches on a regular basis. Over time these very people should bond with the team (especially when efforts are made to bring quality local talent into the lineup) and the rest will be history.

Higher prices will bring some working class Latinos out in the beginning but simple economics might keep them away in the long run.

We already pay high prices and will continue to do so.

I'll be very surprised if (excluding promotions) the price of Goats tickets is any different thant he price for Galaxy tickets. It would seem to me that AEG would have made sure that was in the agreement. After all, Vargara is paying $15mill on top of his expansion fee just for the rights to be able to play at the HDC.

if the Metros sold tickets for $ 1.00 they would not be able to sell out Giants Stadium, so ultimately making very little money and force them to charge for the tickets to make a buck. It has been proven that quality is what drives ticket sales and not the prices of tickets. Someone will pay $200 to see a Man U friendly but refuse to pay $25 for a MLS game. Chivas will have to make money too, they can't go to low, probably will have to be on par with the Galaxy, after all they do have to answer to MLS.
I do favor deep discounts to families who are willing to buy season tickets, but not on single tickets or to the occasional attendee.

And what is up with that field, it has a dark patch as if they had a fire buring on it, and the sand is still very visible, the grass rips up very easily, and all this with only Galaxy there and few other games. Now add to that another 20 soccer games and your heading for a very poor feld down the road, lots of maintanance cost and the jewel of soccer stadium we love now , will be ran down facility within a short time.

Bingo, PZ. MLS is the kind of league where this stuff is worked out by contracts/agreements beforehand, behind closed doors. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a small difference in prices or promotions prices, but no way will one team low ball the other.

Correct me if i am wrong, but I don't think the fee is for them to play at the HDC but rather becasue they play in the region. Even if they were to play at the Rese Bowl this fee would have stood as is. Chivas still have to pay rent to play at HDC.

My understanding (comment I heard from reliable source) was that Vargara was told by AEG some time ago that if he wanted to play in the LA market, it would be at the HDC or nothing. AEG then gets rent money on top of the above mentioned payment for giving up terratory rights.

Down the road though, who knows?

I was checking Ticketmaster for tickets to the 4th of July game, and I saw a $100 ticket.

I'm glad they keep a $15 section available though. IMO, the best strategy is to have a significant area with cheap tickets, and offer huge child discounts.

So... If Galaxy-Chivas play a match, and Galaxy is the home team, the tickets go from $15.00 - $45.00, but if Chivas is the home team, ticket prices will start below $15.00 ???? Same place, same teams, but...

Only in LA.

Hmmm, I hope the AEG and Vergara have agreed to work together rather than compete in general.

FYI: the league FO establishes tix prices for each venue, or so I've heard.

And isn't the FO in NYC?
