A big newbie here so I'll try not to say anything stupid.Ive followed English football for only about 2 years mainly because of FSW but now I have become quiet intrested in football clubs of other British isles nations.Namely Scotland,Wales and N.Ireland and was hoping someone here could help with a few questions. Now I don't care to be a bandwagon jumper but I would like to find clubs in these nations that have alittle history and are sound financially. So far I have done some research into the clubs but I have found that there is limited information. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

What do you want to know about Scottish clubs? I'm sure I could tell you.

Are you looking for a team to support? If so, don't be a sheep (and I don't mean an Aberdeen fan).

Hmmm I'm sensing a battle with the Old Firm supporters coming on ;)

Rangers aren't "sound financially" ;)

No I don't plan on following the rest of the American herd and going for the clubs with the most titles. So that rules out Celtic and Rangers easily for me.I guess what I meant is a club that isen't gonna go belly up any time soon like Leeds but also has some tradition to look back on.I guess a good example of this is my favorite Premeirship club Man.City.

Thing is, there isn't an obvious candidate. Most SPL clubs are in a poor financial state. I take it you do mean the SPL?

If you wanna support a team from NI support Linfield. They have a great history, where founded in 1886, have got to quater final of European Cup and are the biggest and most successful team in Ireland.

Easy, big fellah.

Although I suppose in Linfield, you're going to find plenty that sort, I'm sure there are a few, plain ol innocent football fans sprinkled in among 'em for form's sake.

A couple of years ago I put up an list of all the first division sides and links to their websites. I'll have to see if I can dredge it up.

In the meantime FeDuke, ask away with specific questions or all you're going to get in pointless posturing. :D

As far as financial security .. I'd have to say Dundee . ;-) we've just gotten our CVA approved and we'll be out of Administration reletively soon .

Stay clear of the wee team dundee, 23 mil in debt and a dump of a ground that even has a tree in the toilets of one of their "stands" :p , you should opt for their supeior neighbours from across the road Dundee Utd

Anyone who supports a club who plays at the Legostadium should not talk about other club's parks . :p ;)

Nice shell game your chairman is playing with your new "sponsorship" deal . I'd bet your club goes through the same hell we are begining to emerge from in the not too distant future . I sincerely hope I'm wrong on that as I would not wish that on any club (even the DABs) .

And them 3month mechano stands behind the goals at parkdense. :p

I hope we don't ever have to go through it either, as much as i dislike your wee club i would miss the derbies and rivalry too much, to be honest i don't even want dundee to get relegated as i like the derbies and i'm sure it annoys the "amalgamation, one team in dundee brigade" that both teams can compete as well as one team cities like the sheep, aslong as we are finishing above you as it should be. ;)

I love this Dundee vs. Dundee Utd trash talking. LOL! These kind of cracks:

"Stay clear of the wee team dundee, 23 mil in debt and a dump of a ground that even has a tree in the toilets of one of their "stands" , you should opt for their supeior neighbours from across the road Dundee Utd"

And the response...

"Anyone who supports a club who plays at the Legostadium should not talk about other club's parks."

are exactly what the doctor ordered to get us through the summer months.

Let 'em keep rolling!!!

Oh yeah , those sticklebrick stands are first class ,,, if you have the legs of a midget . "Fair Play" stand biggest laugh in Scotland .

The Dundee Derby is the best in Britain by far . Basically no agro just 90 minutes of singing your lungs out ( unless you are an Arab and your club is down 3 goals and you are throwing your scarf on the pitch ;) ) . I've always felt that a "Dundee City" would have less support than either of the clubs in the city now . As most of the hardcore of both clubs would refuse to support them ..

Wee team ? you mean the team with more trophies and averages finishing above you 3 out of every 4 years .

You guys both know that the only good thing about Dundee is the road that runs all the way through it to Aberdeen, right? ;)
