I watched the game this week and last week. I have to say that i am not at all impressed with TYMO's performance. He missed tackles and was not willing to foul the opponents to stop the play. When Van Bommel misses tackles, he will always try to pull them down to the ground. I respect tymo for playing clean but we need to win. The other teams just counter through our mid field as if our midfield does not exist. IT REALLY PISSES ME OFF. What's going on with TYMO? his positionings are wrong..he misses tackles...he won't risk himself to stop the play...he passing sucks (keep getting intercepted)...he can't hold the ball. WHAT"S GOING ON??

someone knows the answer?
is it just that he is overhyped and the Budesliga is head and shoulders above the Russian Premier Leage?

What pisses me off more is that he is often quite lazy about tracking back when posession is lost. Often times you could see him slowly jogging in the backround as the opponent was breaking into our box with numbers.

Guys we need vBommel. Not becausse he is so brilliant, but because the team needs his agression.

Actually the Russian Premier League is rated pretty highly.

Tymo hasn't really impressed me. His distribution and positioning so far has been quite poor. I hope it's just a blip and he's better than that.

Bayern Munich fans are really funny. So anyone could say anything good about Van Bommel?

I still think the best formation needs to have both of them on the field

I agree. Von Bommel AND Tymo pose our best option.

I also think all the critcism about Tymo is premature. Remember MVB was NONE too impressive in his first 3 matches for Bayern (as he was brought in to 'replace' Ballack... haha).

I say give it time.

And besides, Tymo is HARDLY our worst problem. Our CB's and GK are...

I didn't see the last game, but I hardly blame Badstuber for any of the other matches. He let in some headers for Ibisevic vs the Hoff but otherwise has either been solid or good in other matches.

true very true. I do agree with you on that defensive formation, but LVG wishes to play a number 10 LOL...seriously....we need to go back to Ottmar's idea. 2 defensive midfielder. NO NUMBER 10 but good wingers.

As I read in another forum...paraphrased...

"Forwards put butts in the seats. Defenders win championships."

Which might explain our transfer policy...although we've never had a problem filling seats.

Sometimes I wonder what matches people watch. Tymoschuk has NOT been unimpressive. His integration into the side has come under the most unusual circumstance. He was bought by a different manager than who is at the helm now. The current manager doesn't seem to have grand plans for him and initially he didn't even fit into the system. Moreover he's come into a faster paced league with an unusually imbalanced group of players in one of Bayern's biggest transition periods in recent history. Given all this, he's done very well. He's a superior DM to van Bommel, no question. His positioning is the best on the team and he may have missed a tackle or two and given possession away once, but that's all fair when you're new and he has to adjust.

Tick tock tick tock, at Bayern in 2 games you're judged and you suck.

Seriously wish ********ing van gaal would play with tactical line-up that suited the players he had under his command..
Rensing/Butt

Pranjic/Braafheid Badstuber Demichellis/DVB Lahm

MVB Tymoschuck

Ribery Altintop/Schwein

Olic/klose Gomez/toni

you don't understand. in the 2nd game that he played (the one against mainz) EVERY SINGLE OF HIS TACKLE was missing the target. I AM NOT JOKING. maybe i am exaggerating it. GO WATCH THE GAME.

It's even worst in the 2nd half when over half of his long passes get intercepted.

way worst than VAN BOMMEL.

False. I watched the match, which begs the question what substance you were under when you did.

And he was not 'worse' than van Bommel.

If you are also judging him on his tackling, try noting his positioning and tracking.

TerryPK1... I have to agree with SirMan on this one... I didn't see half of what you are talking about with Tymo. I specifically remember watching Tymo make several dispossessing tackles in midfield. I don't get your hate...

The difference perhaps is that you are so used to watching the decisive 'hacking' of one MVB as opposed to the smooth calmly deployed tackle of Tymo. That sounds way sarcastic, I know, but I am being absolutely serious. I always rated MVB a hack, that was one inch away from a red card at any moments notice.

good point. I do tend to agree with you; however, i do think that a great defensive midfielder should be someone who is willing to stop the opposition's play at any cost. So if he misses a tackle, he should immediately get up and track back to defend instead of just walking slowly at the other end of field.
Moreover, if he can, he should try his best to pull the other player down and stop the play dead on the spot. Positioning is of course important, but how one recovers his position after losing a tackle is even more important (this includes fouling the other player)

He has tracked back, lol. He ran his socks off in the Mainz game. If there was a counter that indicated how many miles each player ran during the match I bet he would be up there. Not his fault the rest of the team is so incapable and tactically deflated.

Tymo has had bright moments despite being a bit soft with his tackles someimtes. When MVB plays, I have faith that every opposing player that enters the center of the pitch will meet with a grim end, clean tackle or not. Also, MVB is an irreplacable personality and one reason why I enjoy watchin FC Bayern. Who can forget the first time they witnessed his signature weiner pinch when a player got in his face. THAT is entertainment.
