The Revs plays against DC United on Saturday night that will be broadcast on a local OTA station (WLVI, on which the Revs in the past have garnered their highest ratings).

For the first time ever, an OTA in Boston is having a stand alone special on MLS.

Tonight at 10:30, WLVI will run a 30 minute preview of the Revs DC game, of course focusing on Freddy. The 10:30 time slot follows the very highly rated 10:00 news on WLVI and should be a great lead in to the show

With this near perfect advertising for the game, I am hopeful that the Revs will most likely have their highest ever local TV rating.

Pretty cool.

Just for grins, Andy, make note of who buys commercial time in the special. TV news people won't do anything out of the ordinary unless they can sell it, so if they've sold it, that's a good thing. Just curious to know who bought time and made it happen.

If I remember to set my Tivo tonight I will do that for you. I had no idea this was going to be on until I saw it buried in the paper today.

Very very nice production.

Amazing what a non time buy gets you when some money is thrown into something.

The show was produced by WLVI News and was a special program based on The Sports Zone show.

If you want more detail, read below:

The beginning of the show was focused entirely on Freddy with tons of quotes from Revs players. Lots of good highlights from Freddy (thank god for the great goal they can continue to showcase).

Steve Nicol and Brad Feldman are in studio taking questions from the host. The host is pressing the issue of how good Freddy is for MLS. Feldman talks about ratings and attendance increase for Freddy. Nicol is as drol as always but comments on Nowak doing a nice job handling Freddy slowly.

Feldman talks about similarities between Freddy with Magic and Isiah.

First break sees a couple of network promos for shows, an add for the Stepford Wives movie, a Chevy commercial, Verizon Wireless, and Stepford Wives again.

Out of the break great highlights of Twellman goals. Leads to Taylor in studio and host stars chatting about Taylor lack of production so far and Taylor mentions that eventually a shot is going to go off the keepers head and go in.

Host is a bit of a tool, having fun with Johnny Walkers name during one of Taylors highlights.

Feldman is busy licking Taylors ass explaining how Twellman does a lot more than score.

Host the switches to the Revs injuries. Chats about formations etc.

Second break starts with a tease of Luke Vercollone (local kid made good story).

Second break sees a Saab commercial, followed by a local event promotion of the station, Rid-X commerical, French's Mustard commercial, I Party commercial, and Boston Interiors commercial.

No shortage of different names here, obviously tied to the Sports Zone.

Next section starts with a canned piece about Luke. Nice musical number of Luke imagining being on the field as a kid while he watched them in college in NJ. Highlights of Luke getting on the field against Sporting. Funny piece about not being able to understand Nicol when talking to him.

Last break. Honda Accord, Kia, Kohl's, and Butcher Block.

Comes out of break showing Nicol scoring in practice and all having fun with the clip and Feldman immediately into ass licking mode.

Host trying to get the starting keeper out of Nicol who won't budge.

Interesting that the host mentioned the great crowds that the Revs always get and all 3 (Feldman, Nicol and Twellman) noticeably hesitated and then Twellman went with a "yah, we just want them to make more noise". Quite awkward.

Host quickly went into ticket sales for Freddy mentioning possible sellout <aside: the bogus version of course> Feldman said he will not make any predictions but that the ticket sales are brisk.

Spent some time about JMM health and ended with good luck all arounds.

Nice to see that 95% of the show was on the Revs and not Freddy.

Good stuff and great advertisement for the league and local side.
