And the "real" start of the season starts tomorrow. We could be without both Peanut and Cahill depending on how their fitness test go. Also Banega's work permit appeal got approved but he hasn't actually signed so he won't be able to play.

And with no word if Lescott is still dropped from the squad I'm thinking the line up will look like this.

Howard
Hibbert-Yobo-Neville-Baines
Osman-Cahill-Rodwell-Vaughan
Fellaini
Saha

That was just sad. I can deal with not getting a mid right now as long as we can bolster up the back line. We went from one of the best back lines in the EPL to one of the, if not the worst. Moyes needs to light a fire under the boys and get them fighting for their life.

And on a side note I'm really not liking Fellaini playing AM while Cahill pickes up in the middle. I'd rather have one or the other or switch the roles. Cahill doesn't work well as a center mid.

Haha, you sound like me.

It's a little early for that, huh? :D

Howard needs to stay on his line unless coming out to make a save. He is regularly caught out in "no man's land" with no play on the ball.

Perhaps.

But, if Newcastle can drop a level, we certainly could too.

Do they hand out a trophy if you win the Championship?

If so, that could well be the next trophy we win. :o

oh shush. we got 9 points in our first 9 games last year, yet we finished fifth. 3 out of 3 (if you count the midweek one) so far is not bad

we WILL do well this season and anyone jumping on the "we're ********ed" bandwagon after two freakin' league games needs to calm down.

******** lescott and citeh. he only looked good playing next to Jags, after jag's injury he didn't look anywhere near as good. citeh will see this and he'll get benched, he'll not play for england after that (he might get a call or two before that happens) and he will eventually wish he'd not been so greedy.

With the money - reported to be 24 mill, moyes is gonna bring in 3-4 players, i predict in the next day or two, and they will WANT to be here, the same way cahill, arteta, timmy h, pnev etc want to.

then we have danny boy and jacky. ********ing stellar, stars in the making right there.

I know as evertonians we tend to have a "pessimistic" reputation, but this is ridiculous. we won't get relegated just cos we lost the first two games.

grrr... sorry.

I agree, spidey. I'll try to keep my sarabellian pessimism in check. :)

It's nice to know the stats certainly back up your optimism.

The last season Everton was not in the Top Flight was way back in 1953/1954.

Since then, the Toffees have had 8 seasons where they've lost their first 2 games (or more). They are:

2009/2010. Lost first ... league matches.
1990/1991. Lost first 3 league matches. Finished 9th in league table.
1984/1985. Lost first 2. Finished 1st in the league. :)
1979/1980. Lost first 2. Finished 19th (just above relegation zone).
1977/1978. Lost first 2. Finished 3rd.
1958/1959. Lost first 6. Finished 16th, amazingly.
1956/1957. Lost first 2. Finished 15th.
1955/1956. Lost first 2. Finished 15th.

I disagree. Lescott was our best player two seasons ago, and that was before we had Jags. The only time Lescott seemed to struggle was when he was busy covering for everyone else.

But still, ******** him.

He is no way worth £24million!

We have got a good deal there, the only problem is the message it sends out to the rest of the squad and the little time we have to bring players in.

Basically after years of building we have become a selling club again.

We need investment and quick.

Hibbo for man of the match. Guy was incredible out there.

Oh almost forgot, we suck.:p

that's not fair either!!! the 2nd half we totally deserved a draw. and we didn't suck the whole of the first half either... just most of it, enough for them to cling on like one of those sticky burrs you just can't get off your clothing. As for Louis' penalty... i don't know what went wrong there, but i'm sure he's beating himself much more than we are. he seems like that kind of guy.

our possession during 2nd half was 61% pretty much the whole way through. that's crazy. our shots on goal were like 14-4, saying we suck... well how about instead say burnley put the effort in and with a little luck managed to pull it off.

as i said before - and as i said about hull last season - they are riding the endorphins of promotion. they will sink sooner than later, and we will rise. I have to believe that we will get it in gear. COYB!
