Check out the teaser trailer for HBO's forthcoming miniseries "The Pacific." The series is a follow-up of sorts to "Band of Brothers." Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg are the producers. The series follows three marines (one from each of the regiments in the 1st Marine Division) from Guadalcanal through to Okinawa (including some pre-war and post-war).

What do you think of the trailer? Will you be tuning in?
I hope that the series doesn't shy away from the dark and ugly side of the Pacific theater. Atrocities were committed on both sides--it will be disingenuous, I think, if this series has that "WWII was the Best War Ever" vibe.
It would also be interesting if the series included the Japanese perspective here and there--I am a big fan of Clint Eastwood's "Letters from Iwo Jima" because it showed that regular Japanese soldiers were not brainwashed demons like many classic WWII movies portray.
